    Remember the year rookie Kyle Orton won 10 games? Orton was not good but he did what he could and didn't try to play hero ball. The O line was healthy and intact all year I believe. John Tait, Roberto Garza, Rueben Brown, Olin Kreutz and Fred Miller. A healthy cohesive line is like gold. They don't have to all be great .

    I don't buy into all this PFF metrics nonsense. The fact is that the Bears O-line gave up 44 sacks last year, that is awful! They were also among the worst in total pressures allowed. Thw Tyson Bagent example should not even be mentioned, it is too small of a sample size. Braxton Jones still struggled against the bullrush last year. And Teven Jenkins has never played a full season!

      Justin Fields held the ball longer than anyone else in football

    • @peck1616
      @peck1616 Před měsícem +4

      Justin fields would superglue the ball to his hands every snap. His read time was soooo long cmon man a real fan knows he was the problem. I.e. 6th round draft pick

    • @lukeyduke89
      @lukeyduke89 Před měsícem +4

      Tyson bagent was only sacked 5 times total in 4 starts. 3.5% vs fields sacked over 10% of drop backs ever year of his career

      @StealthSwith19136 Před měsícem

      (Edit: Added last few sentences) Fields also leads the league in self-inflicted sack% since his inception to the league. No one talks about that part because it doesn’t show up in the surface level stats. Sacks are counted the same either way and makes the oline look worse than it really is

    Wright will be a monster this year and Davis will bounce back. Center will be mildly improved. The extra TE sets, versitality from subbing via injuries and depth will also help. Let's not suffer from positivity bias however.

      As do I:) Honestly, if the starters stay healthy we are in good shape. We have much better versatile depth as well. I understand though - it’s hard to be positive when the line has been bad for so long!

    Look here. Until Ryan Poles drafts physically dominant offensive linemen we will have questions. You look at teams who go deep into the playoffs and go to the super bowl they all have physically tough hard nosed offensive linemen. NO FINESSE BS like we got in Chicago. Jenkins is the only tuff guy we got on our offensive line. We need a mean assed offensive line and not a bunch of revolving doors

    Sure hope we have less injuries and more continuity for our O-line this season. Is there any statistic that indicates when your QB gets rid of the ball faster, blockers get injured less?

    • @SportsTalkBears1
      @SportsTalkBears1  Před měsícem

      Not sure there’s a stat… but probably makes sense that there are less injuries if you don’t have to hold a block as long right? Haha

    The comparison between Fields & Bagent is a bunch of crap. Bagent's "release time" was shorter than Fields because he was mainly asked to throw short. On the other hand, Fields had the entire playbook at his disposal: short, long, inside & outside routes. Of course, his release time would be longer as he goes through his progressions. BUT WHO CARES. THIS IS OLD NEWS. IT'S TIME TO LOOK AHEAD TO CALEB WILLIAMS, THE NEW RECEIVING CORPS, THE UPGRADED RUNNING BACK ROOM & THE RE-TOOLED OFFENSIVE LINE... & HOW THE OFFENSE WILL FUNCTION UNDER OC SHANE WALDRON & HIS PLAYBOOK. Yup, let's quit yapping about the past in order to focus on what I believe is a very bright future for the Chicago Bears. BEAR🐻DOWN!!

    I don't think the numbers mean a whole lot and most teams if they run the ball a lot they could have be successful it's is when they got to pass the ball is win offensive lines have the problems

    I miss Justin. It is hard for me to believe the Bears know what they are doing. I want to, but logic keeps interrupting all my good feelings. Moving on from Justin was a mistake. We have to wait for Caleb to catch up to Justin, but what if Justin is head and shoulders above Caleb for life? Why would a guy with less experience do well with our line? I’m a lil lost. We know how much Caleb likes to run around back there. Y’all think he can out run Justin? Think he is as strong as Justin? He does not have a stronger arm. I’m lost. Good QB with the ability to esacape, run to avoid sacks. I noticed Justin rarely had balls batters down at the line of scrimmage. Justin can see when his follow through is going to end up with a defensive hand in the way. He didn’t Just run. He often escaped tackles to throw the ball or run for a first. There was only on QB that scared you last year, with ability to take it to the house, from anywhere. Caleb is Justin light. Now let’s talk about the draft capital that went into the toilet with the Caleb pick. That offense was offensive last year, but Justin was a gem. You kept the receiver that had a career high, but not the guy throwing him the ball? Why the fuck did the get rid of Justin? Without lies.

    The O-line is closer to 17-20 best line. The Center and Depth is not very good. Run blocking is a top 8, although the pass blocking is bottom 3rd in the league.
    I think the line will give up around 45-50 sacks this year. I am not sold on the Center, Nate Davis and we are not talking about the health of Jones, Wright and Jenkins.
