  • In this portrait photography session we look at a behind the scenes natural light photoshoot with the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art. This is a great portrait lens, and I was shooting with the Sony A7R2 camera in this video. I shoot mainly at low Apertures with this lens, a round F1.4
    We look at some RAW files that were shot with the 35mm lens at F1.4, and you can follow along with the editing at the end of the video.

    Thanks for mentioning the 35 vs 85mm. It may seem obvious to other photographers but I've been going back and forth between these focal lengths. Now I know I want both. I appreciate you talking about it!

    Takes the concept of a "blind date" to a whole new level.

    Nice video. I really like the look of the 35mm. Obviously it's not the super high separation as the 85mm, but it has it's own unique look!

    i use a similar techniquefor skin retouching.. i use LR & the new texture tool more than clarity now .. works for me & you .. so booo to those critics .. I like to use wide primes ,I dont havea 35mm I use the Sony 28mm F2 & now the amazing Samyang 45mm F1.8 which rarely leaves my camera now.. I do like using the destortion , shooting low angles for my fashion work.

    • @BachPhotography
      @BachPhotography  Před 4 lety +2

      I've heard really good things about the Samyang!

    • @GilbertTV
      @GilbertTV Před 4 lety +1

      @@BachPhotography Samyang have uped their game ..I had their first AF lens for Sony the 50mm F1.4 & the AF/eye AF was a little bit poor on occasions but these new lenses thay are making are good AF & great rendering / sharpness etc.. the 45 is amazing i think.. Im gonna be selling my Sony 85mmF1.8 to get the 85mm F1.4 as thats a good if not better than the Gmaster .. great time to be shooting Sony with Tamron & sigma too giving us great lenses

    Bach, maybe you wont read this comment but I just wanna say thank you for doing what you're doing here on youtube. I just found your channel and start to binge watching every video that you posted here cuz I really like your content, the way you presented them are so comfortable and makes me feel like I'm your really is your friend and you really try to help me improve my skill and knowledge in photography. I love photography but never as serious as a couple month ago where I really start to think more about proper competition, exposure, camera setting and also retouching. I only have Canon 550D with kit lens no other gear except cheap tripod and 2 more spare battery and memory card. I'm trying to practice more on retouching when I have a spare time but I'm limited with skill and gears for taking my own portrait. Can I use your RAW photos to practice and share it on my instagram as somekind of retouching portfolio? I'll tag you and the model in the caption to show that i'm not the one who take that photo, only the editing/retouching. I won't use it for commercial use, only as a display portfolio to show what I can do with a Before-After kind of post. Once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge and especially your work's RAW files. You have no idea how precious and helpful they are for beginner like me. Bless you man.

      Glad you’re enjoying the content 🙂 thanks for your kind words
      I’m happy for you to use the photos to showcase your editing skills as long as the description of the photo makes it clear that you have only done the retouching

      @@BachPhotography Sure. "Credit where credit's due". I used to get RAW files at wesaturate. it's like unsplah. if you never heard that website before, i recommend you to check it out and talk about it on your next video. I bet there are a lot of people like me out there and generous professional photographer like you who want to share their work to help others. or maybe you can try to reach out to them for sponsoring your episode man. anyway, I'll upload the photo to my art gallery account on instagram: crimpgallery Critics and feedback will be so much appreciated man. once again thank you. bless you.

    Hey, just wondering, you added clarity +35 to the entire image and then add clarity -26 to the skin to make it smoother. As far as I understood the resulted skin still will be with more clarity then at image before editing :) correct?

    • @BachPhotography
      @BachPhotography  Před 4 lety +3

      I don't think its a linear scale like that, but maybe! You could do an experiment in PS to find out

  • @michaelbell75
    @michaelbell75 Před 4 lety +1

    Thanks for the video, wanted to see how the 35 looked in portraits, not bad. Two things though. 1) Thats a very unflattering pose you chose. Her armpit and midsection look really bad and she looks short in that pose. 2) Thats a very tedious and ineffective way to smooth skin. Try using a plugin like Portraiture. Will save you a ton of time and its quite superior to your method.

    You're saying that a 28mm is similar to a 35mm.
    28 mm is much wider andwill include more of the environment. Also a 28mm has more distorsion, compared to a 35mm.
