I am so glad I found your channel. Really enjoying your videos and critique, and can I just say that among a swarm of booktubers who don't seem to have moral integrity when it comes to the authors they support, it is so refreshing to see that you do. New subscriber here!
👏
I felt the same way about the ending of Yellowface. You’re right, it was so disjointed. It was my first R.F. Kuang book as well, but I had a great time reading it.
Your reviews are so in depth! I haven’t read any of these, but I’ll probably read Yellowface in the future 😊
I also read Yellowface definitely was a train wreck. There’s definitely a lot of parts that reminding me of the mean girls movie specially the part of the straircase 😆
Ooh, thank you for reinforcing my decision to take You Made a Fool… off my list! Emezi is an author I’ve enjoyed and want to continue reading but I don’t think that one would be for me at all
I need to read Kiley Reid’s new book!
I def don’t think it’s worth the time. But I do really want to read more books from them in the future! I keep thinking about picking up Freshwater.
I thought the romances held Faebound back too which was a bummer
Yes!! They were just kind of unnecessary noise (which I don’t typically say bc I love romance 😅) and the narrative could’ve been so much stronger without focusing on lackluster pairings.
I have Faebound from the library but I’m dragging my feet to read it since it’s just an another fantasy with a war plot line…
Until the stars fall sounds fun! I’ve never heard of it!
right?? it’s very much under the radar and it was kind of refreshing to read a book where i wasn’t already bombarded with previous opinions about it 😅
