M/S good shot of General Bernard Montgomery meeting General Miles Dempsey for roadside chat near Caen. Various shots from his open staff car of Montgomery surrounded by soldiers. He gives out books and packets of cigarettes. They give him three cheers. He then drives into Caen and looks around. He is given enthusiastic reception by the French people.

Yeah, there was absolutely nothing heroic in the actions of the men who fought and died to liberate occupied France from a genocidal regime.
Absolutely nothing heroic in the men that faced death for weeks and months and years on end to bring an end to oppression, genocide, starvation and deprevation. To stop a regime that did not hesitate to invade it's neighbours and bring them suffering.
Who fought, killed and died because it was their duty, becasue of their mates beside them.
Yeah nothing heroic there.
