As someone with 1b straight hair--my hair dries straight. I air dry it every day and always have. I can't even keep a curl if I DO heat it it. That's wavy hair, girl. - Love from the Straight hair gang.
Hairstylist here 🙋🏽 and absolutely the right product will make all the difference. Look for light/medium hold styling cream (apply when damp) or even texture spray. The "air dry" styling creams by Redken is really good! Just don't over do it and avoid the leave on "conditioner things" lol they'll just weigh it down. Beautiful hair!!
Yes! I'm a hair stylist. You can totally rock the wavy look! Less heat damage on your hair, too! You need to do what we call a cocktail. A creme leave in conditioner mixed with a gel or mouse. Works like a charm.
wavy hair is the best hair type for heatless curls!!!!! the initial take down ringlets are so elegant and as the hair falls it gradually goes into an 80s “girl next door” kind of vibe.
Okay I’m searching through the comments for “the right things” because when I let my hair air dry sometimes I’m obsessed with the natural curls/waves that form but I need to know what to use/ what process to make this consistent!
I never found out because my hair was always “unruly” so I brushed and straightened and killed it for years. One time I was with a group and we decided to impulsively buy a slip n slide and dump a ton of dawn on it. Well we did. My hair was so dry at the end and my friend who has coils was like, so distraught over how dry my hair looked, she had brought her leave in conditioner. She told me to just bare with her and use it, she said to just scrunch it in for more even application and sure enough beautiful defined 3b-3c curls popped right on up. She like freaked out and dragged me straight to her house. It’s one of my best memories because for the next like week I basically lived at her house because she wanted to help me with my hair. She never had a sister, and mine was like 15 years younger than me so I never had an older sister, so we got to play those roles for a while and we’re still playing them. Simple memories are the best ones ❤️
I have wavy hair but have so much damage. Here's how I get mine to stay wavy: first I brush my hair with a wet and dry brush before and during the shower (as long as I have it conditioned). Because of my damage, my hair won't hold waves as well if I brush after my wash. After the shower I will take a towel and scrunch the access water away and leave the waves there. Take the wet towel with you to style. I put first a hydrating style cream in (I use Morocco style cream) and scrunch it in (do not straighten your waves). Once you have a good amount in use a hold moose on your damp hair and really scrunch it (maybe 15-20 times with and without the towel). I them will use an air dry formula because heat damages my hair more or if I don't have time I'll defuse. Don't hold your defused down scrunch it in your hair and hold for a few seconds. It will create wavy volume. Make sure you dry your scalp (gently) because it can hold your hair down more. To get rid of any crunch take a small amount of heathy oil to your dry ends and again scrunch don't pull. Trust me.... your hair is just like mine and it works wonders.
“Ive never let my hair air dry before” is a crazy ass sentence to me
If you never let your hair air-dry naturally cause it puffs out, that's THE indicator that your hair is wavy
Maybe not curly, but definitely wavy. You have such pretty hair 😭
Wavy hair people are so funny, always asking if it's ACTUALLY wavy like ma'am I don't see a single straight hair? Yes! You're wavy!

Yes! If you had straight hair like me it does NOT do that with any amount of product, you 100% have wavy hair

"And i diffused for the first time in my life"
"If you don't let your hair air dry because it gets wavy, then your hair is wavy" OH MY GOD

As a curly girl, I concur. Babe.. You DEFINITELY have wavy hair. It's gorgeous!
If your hair dries naturally into waves without products or styling, then yes,you have wavy hair. Welcome to the club ❤
I love seeing people discover they have some type of curly hair, good luck on that hair care journey! ❤

Yes, you have wavy hair. Straight hair don't curl no matter how much you scrunch 😊
