Wow you really improved a lot since last time I checked in❤ and I am sure you will continue making these big steps.
I especially how you got a bit subtler and nuanced in the harmony shining through that passion with some chords that Rachmaninov would use.
I would suggest checking out “dun matin de Pritemps” by Lili Boulanger : it’s really a fun and concisive listen, and really makes an impressive musical narrative arch in under 5 minutes.
Let me know what you think of it❤.
    Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for the kind words!! It is a nice contrast from some other things I've been having to read in this comment section recently haha. What was the last thing you heard of mine since you last checked in? Just curious!
I just listened to dun matin de Pritemps and WOW! I can't believe I have never listened to or even HEARD of this composer! I believe there is a very fine line between good contemporary and bad contemporary music and this flows through different keys and uses dissonance in such a tasteful way. It's not contemporary just to be contemporary, it is truly using all the colors possible to portray such an amazing story. And the ORCHESTRATION! Oh my goodness. Thank you for telling me about that piece and I will definitely be listening to that composer more!

@@curriemusic her other pieces are a lot darker and a bit apocalyptic for example „psalm 130“.
Bu a piece I have fondly in my heart is „Faust er helene“ it’s really incredible how she transitions between moods and sonorities.

How do you get the images you use for the thumbnail?

I use an AI called midjourney! very useful for things like thumbnails, however, it is $10 a month!

@@curriemusic As an artist you should not be so casually admitting to using or endorsing AI. AI will displace every artist if you continue using them and training the algorithm. Disgusting

Would you prefer they lie? Or that someone who makes 0 profit from the time they put into this and for anybody’s enjoyment should hire an artist to make a picture for it?
Artists can either use AI or become less relevant than they already are. If you’re American, you should wake up and assess what value is already paid to artists in our society.
The composer is putting something out there that isn’t begging for clicks, that isn’t insulting anybody or trying to sell some pseudoscientific garbage. It’s not even selling fantasy sex and fame as a way to justify the music. They are doing what true artists always do: a public service. What are you doing?
No offense intended- but the discussion around AI use in the arts is facile, conservative, and misdirected at a largely lower class population that is always willing to collaborate and create things that would employ people but are to the mercies of a stagnant market obsessed with politics and memes.

@@Orion_TheyThem TL;DR: AI stinky, nice music but storytelling-wise it's pretty questionable, in part due to the AI.
I agree, from a social and an artistic standpoint. Firstly, AI has been putting tremendous pressure on the music industry lately, and composers are already lucky enough that they aren't already replaceable with a $10 subscription.
More importantly though, using AI detracts from the soul of a piece. Each piece of art, whether visual, musical, etc. has a story to tell. The story immediately presented by the thumbnail is one akin to "A desolate landscape, but with beauty to behold if you take a moment to look up an enjoy it".
The music opens up with a bit of a lonely and melancholic tone, but slowly turns to sounding more dark and broody, maybe somber around the 0:53 mark, so far not straying from the image's suggestion.
The next mood development around 1:24 borders on presenting the beauty of an aurora in the sky, but is too on the somber/dark side to truly represent the beauty presented in the image. The drop to a clarinet melody with quietness surrounding it again feels lonely, slightly melancholic, but not a moment of admiring beauty.
2:43 switches back to the 0:53 tone and then just drops you in a slightly unresolved ending. If anything, this section does come much closer to presenting that feeling of watching an aurora one would expect, but it lacks tremendous enough weight either before or after to suffice.
Overall, the theoretical and technical aspects of this composition are well done, and I envy the composer's ability, but in my opinion it lacks a certain story or soul that a standalone piece needs in order to be memorable. There's few motifs and even fewer i can remember after watching it through a couple times, but its certainly not bad. solid like 7 or 8/10 piece, i just wish it didnt have AI to contradict the story the song tells on its own.
Pieces like wooden knife, a lost battle, aves, and business, even if using soundfonts that aren't at the cutting edge of what is available, are better listens in my opinion because even if they weren't necessarily written with a specific story in mind, the story is consistent and clear.
edit: i forgot a comma between business and even in the final paragraph kek
