      I picked up over 50hp (dyno verified) putting such a system on my supercharged car and I already had an aftermarket system that was bigger than stock. The tuner was quite surprised how much extra power was unlocked by the more freely flowing exhaust. And yes, heat soak becomes a major limitation when you start tuning. Among other things I have upgraded my radiator (moving from a integral transmission cooler to a separate one in front of the wheel well) and a cooler thermostat, plus ceramic coated headers. It helped a lot. No more heat soak that I can detect.

    • @DieselBOCO
      @DieselBOCO Před 2 lety

      Why not both? Nobody says you only need one Mercedes! W126 was the last of the old school assembly methods, engineered with some more focus around durability and serviceability rather than cost, for the S class at least. The following W140 was a engineering masterpiece for other reasons, but it was the start of unit assembly and system integration, less proven technology mixed with cost concerns introduced by the newfound competition from Japan. Don't get me wrong, I still have a good time in the w222s etc, but there's a reason I've always felt special in a w126 and similarly excellent w124. A w116 SD is what brought me from American V8s to Mercedes, I then upgraded to a 83 in 2002. I sold that particular 83 2 different times vowing to never return to w126, the third time it came back I decided I better just build my dream tribute version of the thing and just hang onto it forever. 538k is about time for that break in oil change, may as well just keep it forever at this point! 😀

So far its been bagged and has a 5speed manual from another Mercedes the a squeezed in there. Honestly as much as i love that old 5 cylinder turbodiesel i might give in and throw a 606 in it. Make around 5-600hp and make it the ultimate sleeper that no one would expect

    I did my conductor plate and connector with a trans service a while back and was debating getting the valve body from VRP and decided to try the TCU out first. I went for the MK Ultra Stage 1 TCU and I absolutely love it! I like the Agility mode and it always feels like it wants to GO! all the time and was going to get me in trouble with the local constabulary. After a week I switched it to Sport mode but noticed it’s so much more responsive just running it in Comfort on the up shift and downshift and it seems to always be in the right gear and makes it feel much more like a modern performance sedan! It also makes the paddle shifters more usable and responsive under heavy throttle. If you’re thinking about getting one, just do it, you won’t regret it! 😄👍

    Big BMW guy here for the last 35 years when i got my first one and loved them even longer than that... I'm old lol but I have to tell ya I love W211s to me they are gorgeous. BMW & Mercedes out did themselves with the E39 & W211 to me the two most beautiful cars ever made in sedan and wagon. Great Channel and I wish I lived near you I'd be over there every other weekend. 😂

    Just put stage two Whipple supercharger on my Gen 1 Ford Raptor. It is a beast now. Did take a hit in the MPG category lol. But you cant bolt on more HP and bigger injectors and get better gas mileage. Now to just keep the power to the ground lol. Nice job!

    It is nice to have that peace of mind. I have a new water pump, starter, and alternator and those are all my accessories so I know I’m good to go on everything because I rebuilt my engine a year ago

    Hey Alex, you are an inspiration. I bought a 03 e55 after I watched your build and I’ve been in love with Mercedes ever since. I was wondering where I can find that transmission tune, could find much information.

    I really liked this vid and watched some sections one more time. I like your license plate LSC WAGN, especially because that way it could also be German „Wagen“, which you can use for any kind of car.
    I am really looking forward to the next vids on the trans modules and also on the dyno sessions with the WAGN. I only have the RaceIQ SW on my TCM. It makes the shifts better, but not great.
    I saw that you have a modified steering wheel but with the standard buttons and no paddles. Can you share more info on this?
    Also it is time to get an LSD now. I had a Wavetrac installed last season!

    Agility mode can be programmed on the stock TCU on every w211/219 and as you said is basically sport+ mode.It reduces the lag when you give throttle and fastens the shifts between gears.The mode is there from factory,but it is not accessible until you unlock it.

    These custom TCU’s is news for me, ive used the OF-control unit wich is known here in EU for us mercedes tuners. It is this incredibly handy and fun to play around with on the 722.6.

    My E55 was totaled out two years in a weather incident where water wouldn’t drain the cowl area during a downpour and flooded the ‘ME’/ECU along with a dozen other electrical components- catastrophic electrical failure. So sad. Check those grommets that drain for occlusions. Watching this makes me itch for a good one for sale down the road. They have gone up in value though my goodness

    I've had those same problems with non factory parts too when they fail. Most annoying was a waterpump which didn't seal properly and leaked.
