What @Breadward said. For more general purpose use cases Python in great and it has the superior machine learning libraries but R blows it out of the water with statistical anaysis packages, dashboarding, and data visualizations. but they do work well together with the R reticulate package allowing for the passing of python objects to R. One reason R is great is that it interfaces well with other languages to take advantage of their strengths while keeping most of the code in R for ease of use on the end user. as with all things in tech it depends on what you're trying to do

51:55 "Versus something like..." In their defense those languages have statistics libraries to provide that functionality. For example C# has mathdotnet and can even link in C/C++ native libraries like GNU Scientific Library. C# can also link in the entire R language! The advantage of C# is the diverse ecosystem saves a lot of time when integrating a specific statistics solution into a larger corporate IT network which has specific requirements for reporting, auditing, provisioning, backups, etc etc. The data R would be accessing is probably highly privileged and a possible security vulnerability I would imagine. Giving something as powerful as R out in the raw could be dangerous. Just sayin'...

Hey, I just watched the whole thing because it was the closest I could find to a crash course and it served its purpose well, but I just wanted to leave a big piece of hopefully helpful criticism: stop "trying to sell" the language, or over-explaining things. By this I mean stuff like "and now we see it dropped x row. Here you could drop any row you wanted! color, model, drv, with just this one function!"
I feel like this is very much geared towards people at least slightly experienced with programming, so 50% of the talking being unnecessary "examples" was a bit exhausting :)

I don't know why people go through the trouble and work of creating a technical tutorial video, then use a tiny font that nobody is going to be able to read unless they sit 2 feet away from a 50" monitor. (Note: Brad doesn't do this.) I was excited to see the R crash course, but frankly find it near useless.

12 minutes until "how to make a file". I wonder how much longer until the first line of code 🤔 In my experience with podcasts, those that jump into the actual matter within the first three seconds tend to be way more successful 😅

Thats why the timestamps are there, if making a tutorial for someone completely brand new to the subject its also often helpful to give a little background, install the tool, setup the working environment so someone can get started, for people who dont need that they can use the time stampes :)

Bryan Jenks Oh, I totallly didn't notice 🙈 Thanks a lot for the hint 🙂 I'm looking forward to watching the part about the language 😊

@@chickenduckhappy No worries! R is honestly a quirky tough language so when it comes to teaching it they widely accepted way is less about "here's how to write an if statement" and more about "here's how to do something with your data" so thats what i mostly show here. If you enjoy R i do make a lot of videos on it :) enjoy!

Bryan Jenks One more thing 🙈 The font is just legible for me on my phone but I guess lots of people will have to switch to larger screens 🤔
