  • You've asked, and we've listened! Theology can be a difficult subject to fully grasp. With so many differing views, answers, and interpretations of Scripture, sometimes it is hard to know what to believe. Today, Professor Loren Larson takes a look at your questions regarding the Bible, specifically:
    - Is it important to be of a specific denomination?
    - How can historical and literary help us understand the Bible better?
    - How do we make the cross the object of our faith?
    - Can you be saved and still have bondages?

    Pastor Larson, if a person gets saved...should people always be able to see evidence of salvation in that person's life? Someone mentioned to me that if a person gets saved, then their lives should show it immediately, or they were never really saved.
    I'd appreciate your feedback 🙏

    James 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
    Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
    John 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
    16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
    John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
    13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

    Amen to all this brother. One thing though, I have yet to find a church that preaches The Cross, here in Chandler, Gilbert Arizona area where I live, or even and hour north of us in Phoenix. Not one in all my years here have I been able to find a church that preaches Christ crucified. So my wife and I have church here in our home in south Chandler. Brother Larson please think about coming to the Chandler area.

    All of these video are great teachings for the body. Thank you to the glory of God!!!!! My question is……. Can a false doctrine and the cross go together, I think I know the answer, but there are some teachings that I’ve heard that mixed the two and in my spirit I was grieved heavily. This doesn’t go together with the word of faith doctrine😢

    Thanks for these truths from the Word of God. A question I have is could you please do some explaining on biblical fasting. I think I have a better understanding of this subject after much studying and prayer, but some clarity would help many on this subject. How do you define biblical fasting compared to doing it as works for righteousness? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

    I agree with bro Larson 100 percent but I’ll only say we also need to let people know their are some that maybe hasn’t been saved….only God truly knows but I understand how the young lady may have come up with this question.
    I like to look at it like this…..
    A: someone habitually sinning there is a chance the person hasn’t truly been saved.
    Or
    B: They are in the process of spiritual growth and the bondages regardless of what they may be.
    I personally feel (in my opinion) it’s very difficult to believe someone is saved and has zero conviction and cusses like a sailor ….drinks like a drunkard…..cheats like an adulter with NO OBVIOUS CONVICTION. I’m not just picking on these particular sins either …..it could be any sin. After all sin is sin. Period.
    I also feel there are so many today that want to quickly use this “all have sinned” as an excuse to say Gods working on me. Is this possible yes in some circumstances but the key is they don’t seem to show any conviction. I know personally in my life when I have chose to sin I always have conviction and can’t continue habitually doing it.
    I am full aware we all have struggles but at the same time I have a problem with someone using “growth” as an excuse to continue sinning. Like bro Larson said in Romans 6:1,2. GOD FORBID!
    I encourage anyone if you are struggling please do not let this mindset be in you that I’m growing and it’s ok. Because it’s certainly not ok.

    Question:
    There is a teaching called “Lordship Salvation” that seems to be pitting itself against faith and trust in the Finished Work of Christ-against Grace-faith teaching that tends to make one focus on their commitment to Christ or obedience to Christ or performance for Christ. Is this teaching Biblical (as is taught by some Calvinists like John MacArthur)?

    Bro.Larson. Being saved, Spirit filled, yet, to get into unscriptural beliefs.(going by feelings) brings bondage,oppression? Thanks for question and answer.

      Bro.Larson. Works of the flesh, particularly, Gal.5:20, witchcraft, how can that bondage be in a Spirit-filled Christians(and they supposedly "know the Word") life,and not recognize it?Being fearful of harm?
      Videos are a great blessing. Thanks

    When you trust for justification you get the rest eternal.
    [[Paul James Jesus saying same thing. Law of faith , law of liberty and the law of the Sprit ]]
    Romans 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
    Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
    Romans 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
    Romans 2:1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
    James 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
    12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
    James 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
    25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
    Galations 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
    James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
    Romans 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
    James 1:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
    Romams 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
    James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
    Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness
    1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
    Matthew 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
    22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
    Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
    Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
    22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
    23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
    24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
    25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
    James 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
    Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
    Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
