- A step by step tutorial of how to play the main groove that Taylor Hawkins would play live in 'My Hero'.
In this lesson I breakdown and teach how you can work towards playing multiple consecutive bass drums in a row whilst learning the main verse and riff groove of 'My Hero'. Be sure to try out the different exercises step by step to help develop your bass drum control. The more control you have over your foot the easier the beat will be to play and it will also improve how it sounds as well.

I’m still struggling to come to terms with the loss of Taylor Hawkins’ death. A few days after his passing , in an effort to deal with my grief I thought I’d write down some words to make sense of it all and the impact he had on me as a drummer.

I just wanted to thank you man for this video. I’m a beginner drummer and I’ve been struggling finding the perfect tutorial cus i can’t read drum notation (yet!) and all the other vids go way tooo fast for me. But this tutorial…is awesome. You’re doing something amazing here. I’m a huge fan of the foo fighters (as you can tell I have a whole channel dedicated to them) and when Taylor passed I was CRUSHED. Absolutely crushed. I never grieved so hard for someone I had never even met! My walls are filled with foo posters and I went out to watch studio 666. To see my drum god go destroyed me. Never forget the night i found out it was just a minute after the foos made the announcement I thought it was this big joke…but unfortunately it wasn’t. Anyways once again man, thank you. And Taylor Hawkins forever!
