@Tacomaholic Hey Tacomaholic I was wondering if you could make a video about how to remove those plastic black strips that run along the top of the truck bed? is there any way to remove them and put them back on without causing any damage to the strips or paint? I keep getting water spots under those black strips so I wanted to see if I can remove them to clean under them and clean the water spots off then put the black plastic strips back on.
@@Tacomaholic Hi Tacomaholic, yeah those are the ones, I keep getting water spots in the little crevice in between the paint and the bottom of those large plastic top pieces that run along the entire length of the bedside.
If you’re in this situation, wrap a ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire (beefy 2” or larger one) and tighten it. It’ll put pressure against the tread and help bow the sidewalls towards the bead.
With a Power Tank this is not necessary. The tourniquet method is helpful and often necessary only when reseating with a compressor. What would have saved these guys some time would have been to get the tire up in the air from the start so the entire tire is loose. Pull the tire out towards the bead and seal the air while adding air. Wait for the "pop" of the tire over the bead. Air back down.
It really is that simple! As others have noted, pulling the valve core to increase flow or adding a ratchet strap around the circumference can help speed things up. The largest tire we've successfully reseated on a trail was a 46" Mickey Thompson on the same sized 10 lb Power Tank. I'd like to add, stand away from the face of the wheel while you are attempting to reseat any tire, on the trail or otherwise. Just like chocking the wheel while you are working on it, it's a simple precaution that greatly increases safety. Thanks for sharing!
Just a little safety note....when grabbing a rock to move it out of the way....watch where you put your fingers! There may be a critter underneath ( venomous snake) and you might get bit. Emergency room bills are stupid expensive for venomous snake bites!
I can change a tire in 20 minutes if need be. I carry more gear and have more experience than probably 3 rigs in a group. I roll solo all the time. Them boys were very inexperienced.
Yea, I'm still blaming the spotter with the exceptionally hairy, white legs. He's definitely a master at jacking though. I wonder if a ratchet strap around the tire would have been effective if you couldn't have gotten the tire off the ground? Your channel is so informative.
I was going to recommend that. With tires with taller sidewalls, it definitely makes a difference. However, you need to get the tire off the ground to get a strap around it anyways, so in this case, it may have helped, but not made too much of a difference.
Excellent real world example and make sure bead is clear of gunk and junk so bead can cleanly reseat. This is good benefit of having co2 instead of, or in addition to, an air compressor.
Power Tanks are cool, been looking at how to build my own for 1/2 to 1/4 the cost. There are several videos on the CZcams about what to do. If $ was no object, and lets be real, it is ALWAYS a concern, I'd get the PowerTank.
I built mine for 1/4 cost, actually better because I can to a tank swap in minutes vs leaving a tank to be refilled then having to return to pick it up.

@@WiseSilverWolf They just pull right off. Just start at one and and pop the tabs free as you move down the bedside.
@@Tacomaholic Thanks ill try it out, I was just afraid to break them since I didnt know how it worked.

Wet the bead with water and it makes it easier pop back on I have done this several times

And this is why you don't go out without your recovery gear, and why you're better off not going solo.

wtf? this isnt mallcrawling.
What psi was he running? And what load of tire was! That?
I think he was at 12psi. Not sure on the tires.
@@Tacomaholic thanks man, I have load E tires and always wondered how low can I go, I haven't found an answer to that
Starting fluid and a lighter works a hell of a lot better
That certainly works, but shouldn't be a first option.
Also works great at catching your truck on fire in the middle of the woods or injuring someone when you’re nowhere near medical facilities.
