In this episode, we travel in our converted Ford transit campervan, with our dog, Twyla.
We make our way to Yea, Bonnie Doon , Jamieson and Mansfield in Victoria, Australia. We enjoy three nights of free camping at three different locations. It’s great to see Australian tourism picking up with many people traveling around Australia in caravans, campervans, RVs, and camping in tents.
If you enjoy traveling within Australia too, make sure you Like & Subscribe to our channel. Thanks for watching!
Places we travel, stayed, and go to on this episode include:
    Yea
    Bonnie Doon
    Mansfield
    Country Club Hotel
    Lake Eildon
    Glad Phillips Bridge
    Tunnel Bend Reserve Campground
    Jamieson Woods
    Jamieson
    Goulburn River
    Jamieson River
In Yea we got a free camping spot behind the Country Club Hotel. It’s first-in best dressed and we loved that we could walk through the back gate into the pub and have dinner without dog Twyla outside.
The next morning, we head to Bonnie Doon, Victoria. Bonnie Doon is a small village in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Maroondah Highway, in the Shire of Mansfield. Bonnie Doon is 168 kilometres north-east from Melbourne. It’s well-known from being in the Australian movie The castle. In Bonnie Doon we went for a walk around the town and checked out the holiday house from the movie, The Castle. We took the drone up over the walk bridge across Lake Eildon at Bonnie Doon.
Then we headed to Mansfield, a small town in the foothills of the Victorian Alps in the Australian state of Victoria. It is approximately 180 kilometres north-east of Melbourne by road. We looked around, done some shopping and sought recommendations on the best free camping spots.
On our second night we free camped at Tunnel Bend Reserve Campground. A level, well treed reserve just above the rushing upper Goulburn River, very good shade from Southern Blue Gums and Peppermint.
The third night we free camped at L R Skipworth Reserve Campground in Kevington, Victoria.
Skipworth Reserve is located on the banks of the Goulburn River. The campground is 300m past Poletti's track on the Jamieson Woods Point Road, which is sealed. There is ample room at the grassy campgrounds although like most nice spots can get extremely busy in the peak periods and its first in best dressed. The campground offers firepits and 2 long drop toilets. There is a rotunda to cook under if required.
Jamieson is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is located at the junction of the Goulburn River and Jamieson River, 193 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. The name is believed to have been derived from George Jamieson, a shepherd who grazed sheep in the area in the 1850s. The historic High Country town of Jamieson has two pubs, one being the Courthouse Hotel and the other Jamieson Brewery which is famous for its raspberry beer. Fuel is also available in town along with a general store and a cafe that is only open on weekends (maybe check opening hours). The Kevington Pub (circa late 1800's)which is the last original pub between Jamieson and Woods Point. Bushwalking, fishing and swimming and 4wd is also a popular way to spend your time here or just sit around the fire enjoying your surroundings. It is also pet friendly.

Hi Steven, yeah, we've both got a knack for pronouncing town names wrong! We see so many towns, sometimes not able to keep track. As we are Aussie and Italian, sometimes our 'cultural' pronunciation plays a part in how we articulate a town name - and we get it wrong. ha ha. Deano

@@kingdeanoadventures because of your videos we are going to do our first "bush camping " this weekend at Mr Franklin!! We only ever camped at caravan park power site, not too sure how we will do with drop toilet and no power, but I love firepits and gathering firewood 😂

@@annefwee How great to hear! You'll love it. It's a beautiful place there. Once you've gone to the drop-toilet, you get 'over the idea of it'. There's a tap outside it, off the water tank that you can wash your hands with too. Let us know how you go. Deano

Hi. this was a beautiful vlog . could you please help me by sharing if there could be possible network issues in Mansfield Vic? or is the network great throughout the area?

Hi there, thanks for checking out our episode. To answer your question, it would depend on who your with. We have found that Telstra has the best service. But that still not guaranteed around these areas. If you’re looking to camp and won’t guaranteed service, I would suggest getting Starlink. Not the most cheapest thing at our friends are using it as a travel Australia and find it to be quite amazing. Hope this helps Regards Deano

Loving the free camps especially near water.
    Q. Why don't you use your cooktop inside the van rather than setting up the butane cooker?
