    Takes me back to my childhood and the steam rallies my family used to go to here in Australia. Sadly long gone. Those machines were a true work of art... truly amazing. Thank you for posting this!

    Thankyou so much for posting this. I have recently lost my father from cancer & this bring back so many happy memories for me. He used to drive a Foden steam waggon at rallies, mostly in the East Midlands and the Sat eve road run used to be a highlight of the weekend with me, my mother & my brother sat in deckchairs in the back with my father & his mate in the cab steering & firing ( this was before all the health & safety malarky of today). The only thing missing was the smell of the hot steam & oil.

    The fact that this superb display of fantastic machinery is still maintained in such pristine glory suggests that there may be some hope for our monstrous species. Kudos and salutations to the individuals who care for them and preserve them. I would dearly love to be able to see this live.

      There are good rallies here in Cornwall all the time, with classic cars and sometimes military vehicles. I used to go with my family as my uncle always brought his steam engine "the Chough" to show off, always fun.

      Its a steam siren, a lot of traction engines have them as well as whistles, ships also have them but generally sound a lot deeper

    in USA & Canada we gotta use a orange reflective triangle to indicate a slow moving vehicle
    all this is super radical!

    Lol @ 0:15 blow the horn and blind yourself! Lol. Play at 2x speed they look like they're going 10 MPH! At 4:05 the first steam roller, @ 3:12 is that a clock on the nose of the tractor? Is it 2:15 pm?

    • @ardsleytank7769
      @ardsleytank7769 Před 5 lety

      Those clock hand looking things are part of what's called the Smokebox Dart. They are the handles used to open, and lock shut the smokebox door. One of them you hold on to, the other you turn. Some engines used a wheel with a handle instead.
