Thank you. It finally snapped into focus, for me, that if you have a large enough color palette, and a spiral part of the set, you can encode any image onto the spiral, with an arbitrary sequence of colors. Sort of like a circular raster scan TV.
This could be used to compress data. Can you give me an example of where in the complex plane the word can be found? I want to try to find it for myself.
@@JustinHallPlus The word does not appear anywhere in the set. But blocks of 1024 numerical escape value appear in a repeating sequence, over and over, many places. The video simply colored those blocks of sequential values in a way that produced this word. Any other picture could have been produced in the 16 by 64 block of sequential values.
every time I see this, I wonder the whole universe is already encoded and hid in the structure of mathematics. A real line (continuum) has all the truths in it....
@@no-ud9rf the mandelbrot set is way more mathematically significant than "just an acid trip", it's not just pretty colors. Then again it's not all of existence encoded or anything mystical like that either...
Benoit would be so proud of this I love the way you made the name come to life I absolutely love this! I dont usually double comment on something but this is totally worthy!
The image is in the palette, not inherent to the Mandelbrot set. The best way to bring it out is to find a near-concentric spiral, and match the palette spacing to how many iterations it takes to get around the spiral. Wrapping the palette around the spiral until it meets at the next line is basically just raster scan. Zoom in on a Misiurewicz point in a cusp to find such a spiral. A low period is advisable. If you then opt to approach a satellite of the set, the spiral will keep returning later. That works for any pattern: anything you zoom in on becomes a returning motif. The most extreme one of this video starts at 1:30. The final zoom on a satellite starts around 2:10. The extreme spiral returns at 2:39, 3:14, 3:39, 3:55 and so on with ever increasing frequency, each time returning with twice as many spiral arms and half the apparent depth. There are infinitely many compressed into the space near the satellite.
oh god. everything in the universe ever has already happened/will happen in this math monster. the set knew it’s own name when it already existed. *_cue existential crisis_*
I wonder if a color pallet exists to encode all combinations of all characters into the mandlebrot set. I also wonder if that would be a useful search tool.
Also, could a machine learning algorithm learn the most efficient search techniques? Would the search be more or less efficient in three or more dimensions?
Isaac Lee That's a brilliant idea and I'm especially amazed by the fact that you found this ideas just by watching this video. I don't even fully understand how Mandelbrot works.
I use an little image (1024 pixel maximum). All images are a matrix RVB (3 components per pixel). To encode it as a palette, every lines of the matrix are put end to end into a vector with a Matlab program I wrote. For example, the Palette corresponding to the 2*2 image ([Red,Yellow],[Black,Blue]) is [255,0,0 - 255,255,0 - 0,0,0 - 0,0,255]
So basically, the gradient is constructed with a lot of end-to-end signals, like a TV raster, and the spiraling regions of the set cause the 'raster lines' in the gradient to line up on top of each other?
The first "MANDELBROT" actually seems to be at 0:25, though it's very distorted (the M is massive and the "DELB" part is tiny and pixelated, but it's still readable)
Me too bro but i don't understand anything anymore, guess we are all part of this universe. But what does that mean? Hahahahahha😆 sweet mandelbrautwurst

Wow! This is absolutely amazing. I never thought about how you can customize a palette to this extreme! Did the word Mandelbrot fit into the 32x32?
Marisa Lino I guess he used 64x16 😄
yes it's 64*16. I want to test with 256*256 (65536 colors), but the length limit of palette is 1024.
it could fit in 64x16
