  • Note: The Rio Heating Arc used in this video was provided to me as a review unit. I'd like to think that didn't affect my opinion, but I leave that to you, dear viewer, to decide.

There are certain categories that have been feeling very empty in the Homekit world, thankfully Rio Heating is here to rescue us from the cold.
The Rio heating Arc is a gorgeously crafted piece of technology that most would be proud to have on display. There are a few Homekit accessory manufacturers, like Eve Home for instance, that have taken time to make sure they get not just a functional product, but also one that hits the Aesthetic bar that many consumers flock to Apple products for.
Rio Heating is one of these manufacturers. The Arc is a beautiful piece of curved glass and with brushed nickel style feet that will blend into most modern homes without looking like it's a misplaced children's toys. No cheap plastic parts are visible on this unit.
It's primary, and arguably only function, is to warm up a room. Unlike traditional space heaters which can be noisy and blast heat out into a room, the Arc is whisper quiet and slowly emits enough heat to get the room up to at the target temperature over a longer time period while not interrupting or distracting whatever else is going on in that space.
Final Thoughts: At the price point, the Arc is a bit of a luxury buy so it's not something I would be putting in every room in my house. But as a functional display piece that will help to keep you warm on a cold winter night, it's definitely something I would recommend looking at if it fits into your budget range.

This really is a good-looking piece. If I needed a heater more than a handful of days a year, I’d definitely snag one of these. Great rundown Chris!

LOL Yeah it’s definitely a seasonal piece but I’m loving it given the temps are low and the snow is falling.

if they gave you one of these why are you not showing us a video of it front, back, and controls? That's what I was looking for.
Would also like to see how far it sticks out on a wall mount setup.

I didn't see the most important question. What does it cost to operate?

If this had a fireplace feature…. It would be a done deal and multiroom expenditure… now.

    Wall mount only

Is that a question or a preference? :)

Hello, it makes sound ? I want to put it into a record studio

It doesn’t make any obvious sound. Almost positive it’s beneath the 30dB level. That being said, I can’t guarantee that any of your sensitive mic’s wouldn’t pic up a gun or something. It is electrical so potential for something there. Wish I could give you a better answer. I did some recording when younger so have some idea how sensitive these things can be and don’t want to give you the wrong info. :)

@@Homekitgeek if you can it can be nice to tell me how much you have on a decibel meter (app) next to it when it is working

You going to review the Rio Eco? Not Homekit enabled, but still Smart Home with app etc

    • @Homekitgeek
      @Homekitgeek  Před 3 lety

Probably not going to to be taking a look at the Eco anytime soon. Although I do wander into other ecosystems occasionally, I'm trying to focus more on getting things into Homekit right now to streamline my smarthome in general.

isn't this an infrared heater, which you didn't mention in your review? That would explain the thinness of the device and the lack of heat coming directly out from the heater.
Did you read the instructions or find out anything about this device? All I got from this review is you thought it was beautiful. Not that helpful.

Appreciate the comment. It’s electrical - not IR which is why I went over the electrical and power draw and mentioned the Sense readings in the review. Sorry if that didn’t pop enough for you.
