- We made our first flight in our new home, to a small town in Texas. As it turns out though, they're a little more firm here than we're used to!

Texas flying is definitely never boring! Thereâs an EAA 302 IMC/VMC Club meeting at Galaxy Aviation at KCXO this Thursday 11/10 at 7pm with the KCXO Tower Controller Supervisor as the guest speaker. It would be great to see yâall and any other local pilots there! By the way - we swim in the lake all the time and havenât tangled with any piranhas or great whitesâŠ
I went to Texas A&M. Fun seeing it from the air!
Have you explained why & how you've moved to Texas in a video yet? Any troubles getting a visa/work permit, moving house, kids schools, etc? That's a big move to come with your entire family. You should definitely chek out Galveston if you want easy access to the beach, entertainment, Houston and a private airport.
Pleasant surprise flying over the A&M campus & arriving at Easterwood Field. Thanks for the quick peek. TAMU '73
Congrats on your move Noel and family. Looking forward to your flying to new places and new adventures.
Welcome to hooks! Iâm glad you enjoy it.
Wow! Congrats and welcome to Texas! Beautiful overhead view of Kyle Field at Texas A&M!
You'll be delighted to hear it's ruddy freezing back in Lincolnshire right now but someone has to do it đ€Good luck in Texas đ€ â€
Cold, cloudy and windy in Lincs!
Lovely to see you both looking so happy. Congratulations on your move and hereâs to many more videos to come
My very first flight ever was out of Easterwood! Really happy to see you putzing around my neck of the woods! Welcome to Texas
Wow, your first flight into my hometown where I grew up in College Station. And yes Texas A&M is a huge university and campus and one of the largest football stadiums in the country.
I went to A&M....thanks for the Kyle Field and campus flyby!!! If you want a good Texas experience, would suggest seeing a game there!
You both look happy! Glad to see the move is paying off.
Welcome to our country! So happy you and your family came across the pond! Rachel is so funny!! The controller wasn't in the best mood, was he?
Certainly didnât want to mess up after that exchange đ
Noel, welcome to the US. Don't worry, some pilots have a problem following directions. I'm sure you have the same problem in the UK. Most controllers are very helpful and pleasant to deal with and very few are a bit testy.
Procedures in the US are pretty similar to those across the pond. You'll get used to them very quickly.
So, have fun and enjoy flying freedom here.
Welcome to Texas Philips family! Enjoy the fall & winter... the summers are a tad warm!
Howdy Noel, there is a resturant at CLL next time you go there. Again, welcome to Texas. Look forward to flying with you or running into you somewhere soon
Hi Noel and Rachel glad you are enjoying your new home đĄ what lovely views over Texas kindest regards Paul
In Kent
Great view of the A&M campusđ As an Aggie, thatâs hallowed ground đ
Texas will certainly be a big change from England! Looked like a fun flight and that youâve adapted really well to the differences in ATC and radio comms here. Iâm looking forward to more flying videos and hope youâre having a great time here!
Welcome to Texas! I am an ex pat living in Houston and have followed your channel for a while. Hope you and the family settle in well!!
Doncaster ATIS impression - spot on. "American bloke ATIS" - also accurate with the cowboys on approach đ
Welcome to Texas!! I live about 2.5 hours NW of you in Temple, TX. Looking forward to seeing you in familiar territory!!!
Good choice of airfield - I flew out of DWH back in 1988 flying Schweizer 300c helicopters and Cessna 152s. One of the few airfields I've ever seen with its own sea plane water landing strip. The local airfields at Conroe, Huntsville and May were good for a excuse for a navigation exercise.
Great video Noel. Look forward to following your further adventures Stateside!
I'm convinced they used your voice to program the UK automated ATIS - 10/10 impression
Easterwood has a great airport restaurant in the GA area called gate 12. Their eggs Benedict are an awesome brunch option! Welcome to Texas!
Excellent video Noel. Glad your settling in well. Looking forward to seeing more of Texas and the USA đșđž đ
Noel, I got my PPL while attending Texas A&M in the 80's next door to CLL at CFD.
I even got college credit for my ground school class.
Did my FAA PPL checkride at DWH, so I know that route well.
I live in Oregon, so flying in the UK looks very familiar. Looking forward to you and Rachel's reaction to the heat and humidity in August!
I started to get my ppl decades ago, and remember the terror of doing touch & go's on 17L/35R.
Congratulations on the move! I look forward to seeing where your flying adventures take you in the states.
Looks fab and you both look so happy, really pleased you are enjoying it there! Nice smooth landing too!
Welcome to Texas Noel! Glad you are among the flying experience of our country. See you on a ramp some where!
Wow! Never wouldâve imagined you would be flying out of Hooks. I live about 15 minutes from there. Welcome to Texas Noel and the family! Maybe we will cross paths around here.
Our new place is just up the road from
Hooks, so even closer than where we are now! Maybe see you in the area đ
Blimey Noel, no grass strips, no short strips, just pure concrete and plenty of it. Enjoy your time in the USA. Look forward to your flying exploits. Hopefully you will do some flying around Los Angeles ... eventually.
Glad to have you here in Texas sir.
Great video, thank you, texas looks really nice, hope you are all well, much love, take care, stay safe xx UK đŹđ§
Thanks for a great video, Noel, enjoy watching all your content, and lovely to see Rachel appearing as well. Also note you might be in Brisbane at a similar time to posting this. Cheers! Have an awesome time in Australia... (Mike, Sydney).
Noel I would love to hear about some of the differences between US and UK GA flying that you experience
Have to say ur ATIS impersonation was very good ! đđđđđđđ
Mate, in all your videos you pretty much nail centreline every time. Best of luck to you and your family, on the new adventure
Lucky bugger. That weather looks stunning. It's cold and miserable back in Notts
Howdy yâall! Welcome to my neck of the woods! Glad to have you as (near) neighbours! I flew radio traffic watch (as a passenger only) in a Cessna for nearly 20 years.
Love Hooks. Thatâs where I did my first solo! Love your ATIS voice. You sound like a Dalek
Oh that gorgeous blue sky. Ireland has been grey for weeks now
Welcome to Texas! Yes, David Hooks is large, but there are hundreds of small, fun places to visit fanning out from Houston. Not sure what your comfortable travel distance is, but my favorites (out of San Antonio) include New Orleans, Memphis, Hot Springs, and all of the Texas Gulf Coast. Lots of quaint towns everywhere in between with a retired police cruiser to take into town as a courtesy car. Your rental looks about right. Archers are my favorite when I rent. The students keep the Cessnaâs booked, and the Cirrus crowd is way out of my price range. What do you use to mount your underwing cameras?
I' m glad you didn't do a low pass over the house! I hope everything works out well for you all there!
Too funny. Tons of student pilots in this area, and the controllers have a short fuse. If you're interested, there's a quiet lakeside field on Lake Livingston (00R). And if you make it over to La Porte (T41) there's a good chance you'll meet a champion aerobatic pilot that runs the school there at Harvey & Rihn.
That controller sounds like he didn't get his morning coffee! Very grumpy chappy.. bet you never got that in the UK đ€
Don't forget to fly on the right-side of the sky over there. ;)
Your Doncaster ATIS impression is uncanny!
Hi Noel great to see you back in the air!
Another great video. Is it me or these airfields a lot busier then the uk especially on your arrival. Also how cool haven a handling facility when you land! No bad for $10
That landing was butter... Nice job...
Congratulations on the move! The midlands will miss you!!
CLL is my home airport! Next time you fly in there's a good taco joint not too far from the airport called Fuego, their brisket taco is the stuff of dreams lol
Welcome....Happy landings....!!
Great video Noel, nice to see you flying in your new home.
Great vid Noel. Could you please do a quick vid on your conversion to US GA flying? Check out, costs, etc. BTW - I'm paying $300 p.h. (Aussie) for a PA-28 wet plus landing fees. It's almost beyond the budget of the PPL now.
Congratulations on the move. Hope the family is all well.
Welcome to Texas!! Hope you enjoy the Lone Star State as much as I do!
congratulations on your new home and flying home
No way, you moved to the US? I love your stuff made
Nice to see your getting settled in The Good Ole USA. Looks great :-)
Looks fantastic out there!
I think they were winding you up about piranhas! đ
I miss you flying out of Gamston, I wish you would come back and check out your old home, I really miss you taking Golf-Alpha Lima Bravo and November Oscar Mike
Welcome to Texas! I'm based out of DFW and fly into IAH quite a bit. I'll keep an ear out for you
Great video folks, looking forward to seeing more Texas based adventures.
I have family who lives on Lake Livingston in Texas and I've flown into Lake Livingston's small GA airport and ATC in Texas don't mess around. I once had a guy refused entry into the Hobby/Bush Bravo because he was in a Piper Cub and he couldn't go faster than 80 kts. He had to go around the Bravo and fly 30 miles out of his way and ended up running out of fuel and made an emergency landing at Sugarland. He was coming from Galveston.
Nice simulation of a RAF weather dalek!
Noel , great luck to you over there , Im going to watch this after with a cuppa !
Welcome to the best GA flying on earth! You should join the pilotsofamerica forums and chat and join us at one of our fly-ins. Lots of members in Texas and the surrounding states.
Concerningly accurate impression of the Doncaster ATIS
Wow that airport information you did, was so funny and accurate
Hi a great vid , nice to see you settling in us
Great video really enjoyed the atc conversations đ
Welcome to the states!
Hope you and all the family enjoy your new life in USA. what made you move over there?
Ooooh my ears pricked up when you mentioned Gamston! LNER train driver here đââare you talking about the same Gamston near Retford? See low flying light aircraft around there quite a bit.
Welcome to Texas Noel!
This is awesome!! Welcome to Texas!!!
I live about 7 miles from Hook's Airport! đ
Good for you.
Wow, Noel! Welcome to the US!!! :)
Hope u and family have an amazing life in texas
Welcome to Texas! I fly in and out of IAH quite a bit so maybe I will run into you one of these days.
Welcome to a whole different world of flying. Expat here flying gliders upstate NY.
Congratulations on the move, no more looking up from our village near Gamston thinking ââŠI wonder if that is NoelâŠâ đ
Noel, youâre living in Houston now? Thatâs my hometown and I still live here!! Welcome to the states.
Enjoying the videos as always.. Certainly alot busy than back home in Beccles.. not sure I understood much of the air traffic controllers, guess it takes some getting used to. Happy flying
Great flight and landing.
Love your page! Awesome videos. I used to fly into Hooks all the time in Blackhawks a few years ago. Not googling it but if I remember correctly, Gill Aviation was awesome. Used to get hot fuel practice there at CLL as well.
Lake Conroe is beautiful. Welcome to Texas Noel! Hope you have a great time, BBQ's on me if you're ever up in DFW!
Nice landing Noel!
I fly at Gamston as well. How difficult was it to get used to the different procedures in the US? ATC sound a bit more intimidating than the ones here. Good old Doncaster will be gone soon.
Congratulations on your flight in your new country. As we yanks say, "your not in Kansas anymore." Lol. Can't wait to see more videos. â€
Noel, I fly out of KFWS in north Texas, last week towered denied a pilot in the pattern the option for touch & go because âthey were in the pattern for two hoursâ , I never heard of that before
Congrats on the move. Watch out for stressed out GA ATCs.
Welcome! I've been following your video's for a while and they're great! I hope you film going more inland to the Austin/San Marcos area. There are alot of beautiful hill country scenery to explore. Otherwise, keep up the great work.
Love it Noel! It is so much more GA friendly in the USA, easier and more accommodating compared to UK. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures! Your wife might let you invest in a Cirrus,,,, eventually! ;)
How was the process for changing your UK license to FAA ?
Nice video Noel and hope you are enjoying your new life. Now that you are in the USA, I wondered if you are going to try for the rating to fly jet aircraft? It seems a huge country to fly around using a prop plane. Cheers, Phill
So now you're free of most of the landing fees you can develop the gentle art of negotiating fuel purchases to waive the ramp fees đ Sometimes it works, sometimes not but hey, you gotta ask.
