    Can I use external bleaching for root canal teeth? The tooth has already root canal two times (retreatment of root canal) and I want to avoid opening the tooth again.

    Amazing content, very informative. If I have a root canal treatment done already and it was already internally bleached but now it is discoloring a bit, am I supposed to go again to do a crown treatment or some type of veneer? As you said it is always good to be conservative with teeth, I ordered some withening strips and I'm wondering if should use them or not to try bleaching it externally, I do not want to cause anymore damage to the theft and potentially lose it. Thanks in advance

      Internal bleaching often needs to be performed again if the tooth discoloration is relapsing. I would follow up with a dentist to get evaluated to see if a more conservative option is possible before considering a veneer or crown.

    Great video thank you! Wanted to ask, if you are about to begin RCT on a tooth, would you then do internal bleaching straight after as a preventative measure or would you wait until the tooth is discoloured first to then do internal bleaching?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  Před 3 lety +2

      You would wait until the tooth is discolored, because teeth respond differently to root canal treatment. It is not something I would recommend be done prophylactically.

    hello, i had it done 10 days ago on a front tooth. The dentist did root canal + walking bleach. This tooth never hurt me before. Now, i still have the product inside my tooth but i feel electricity in the tooth 5 times per day. It s very violent when it occurs. Is it normal to feel that? the toot is white now but i hope it did not damage it.

      Hello, I would check in with your dentist to look into this further. The symptoms you describe are not consistent with what I’d expect from an internal bleaching treatment and I think it would be worth it to follow up.

    Hi, I got the root canal 🦷 surgery and then I got the internal bleaching done. It’s been 5 months and the yellow color is back. Now I have to spend the same amount of money again to do the bleaching procedure. Wondering, do you know if there’s a more permanent solution to this ? So I don’t have to do this every 3 to 5 months ? It bothers me lots because it’s on one of my front teeth.

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  Před 5 lety +2

      Sorry to hear and I totally understand how that's frustrating. Unfortunately, without clinical photos and x-rays I cannot give you specific recommendations like veneers, additional bleaching applications, etc. What I would say is to ask the dentist or specialist who did this procedure what other treatment options are available for your case.

    What's your opinion on CaOH2 placement into the chamber after the end of internal bleaching?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  Před 5 lety +7

      That's a great question. It seems like the current understanding on this topic is incomplete. From some case reports and in-vitro studies I read through, it seems like the use of calcium hydroxide as a temporary dressing in the pulp chamber helps reduce the possibility of root resorption (one of the potential side effects of internal bleaching) by increasing pH and thereby inhibiting osteoclast activity. While there are concerns that it may cause microleakage of the composite restoration, this study shows it may not actually be a concern: pdfs.semanticscholar.org/915c/488d0156df892929492de5854b921b3157ec.pdf

    • @jeanbrigitlouis994
      @jeanbrigitlouis994 Před 4 lety

      If one had taken tetracycline in the calcifing age ie before 8years... Most likely to get discoloured primary or permanent dentition

    Hi is this internal bleaching permanent because I have a dead tooth and I want a permanent fix but crowns are expensive

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi there! Thanks for the question. It really depends on the etiology of the discoloration. First, the tooth will need to be root canal treated if it hasn't been already. 2-3 years out 50% of cases will regress-but can be treated with external bleaching if the regression is mild.

  • @clashed472

    Will the root canal and internal bleaching will help the tooth discoloration?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  Před 5 lety

      Yes! For the majority of cases of intrinsic stains, this treatment proves very effective.

    I have one discolored tooth in the front .. how much would it be to get an internal bleaching done on that one tooth?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  Před 5 lety

      Good question. I'm honestly not sure since the cost varies widely based on location, but if I had to estimate from national averages, I would say it would cost around $800-1000 for the root canal therapy of the front tooth and then a few hundred for the bleaching procedure.

    Does performing this procedure vary from state to state because in NY where I live every dentist I’ve been to tells me that this procedure is malpractice if you have a root canal
