First of all, kudos for actually using Dutch people in this. It's refreshing to hear Anne's words known from the diary being spoken in her actual language (YES I KNOW SHE WAS BORN IN GERMANY. I KNOW). Second, the actress portraying Anne is incredible!! She's doing a really good job! (oh and the cat...when Moortje nuzzled the lens, I broke down.)

Small correction: Annes actual language was German, before her family tried to escape fascism by moving from Frankfurt/Germany to The Netherlands.

They actually recorded the beginning in Anne Frank’s family home on the Merwedeplein that has been restored back to the style when she lived there. I have visited there twice, recognized it immediately. ❤️

Many people blame this show but it's really an eye-opener for the newer generations. To them, reading something in a book is way less easy to understand than having it delivered to them in a format they're used to. Bravo.

Aqui no Brasil a história da Anne e seu Diário é contado em escolas, no meu 2° colegial eu tive a honra de ler e fazer um trabalho que era dos 2°s para a escola toda, todo ano fazem, recriamos o quarto, fazemos um diário com nossas histórias e simulamos como era a câmara se gás na época e o regime Nazista, parabéns pela série, fico maravilhado que ainda hoje Anne seja um símbolo e um marco tão forte na história!
Iss e só na sua escola pq eu fiquei sabendo dessa menina q tem uma linda história através das minhas pesquisas do holocausto, q eu mesma pesquisei por interesse, Minha escola nunca falou dela, uma pouca vergonha minha escola 🤦🏽♀️😪
Infelizmente em algumas escolas não tem nada sobre ela 😞
@@giovana3698 conheci a história dela e fui pesquisar porquê também gosto de saber sobre o holocausto, através do filme a culpa é das estrelas,a atriz principal visita a casa de Anne Frank em Amsterdã, depois assisti o filme , é angustiante como ela ficou escondida e por fim são capturados pelos nazistas, hoje que estamos vivendo nessa quarentena podemos dizer quê ela passou uma ânsia da morte, muito triste.

If being on a month’s lockdown for our own good seems difficult, imagine the fate of these people, living an entire life in secret!
We are lucky, our lockdown is short. But we still go through anxiety.
I can’t help but empathise the people who went hiding during WWII for years together (for absolutely no fault of theirs...) They could have just burned to the fresh air outside later on, had they come out and lived longer.
No wonder Anne’s father died of lung cancer.

I've read The diary of a Young girl by Anne Frank countless times and everytime I read that it breaks my heart and wet my eyes to think of that poor girl who suffered all the miseries but never complained and always remained optimistic trust me on this I'm very much connected to Anne on emotional grounds. I wish there was something any of ous could have possibly done to put an end to your everlasting suffering. I've always loved you and you've taught me so much that I'll forever be grateful to you.

Thank you for this "animated" memory... It is still too painful to watch videos concerning WW II. My heart still hurts (hurts so-so much) for the Jewish and Slavic people during WW 2. It is unbelievable what the gestapo did with people. Thousands of villages in Belarus were destroyed with their inhabitants. The fascists just forced people to come into one house, then they locked it, and burnt the house with the people inside. Just read, for example, the history of Khatyn massacre... It is so horrible, so horrible... It is worse than the worst nightmare. My heart will never stop aching. May all the victims of WW 2 rest in peace...
I know everything that started to happen but it was so sad and depressing to see her leaving the cat thinking she would come home, I cried a lot

I came across this series while I was searching for a short film that I had watched a few years ago. I cannot recall the title but it was as if Anne Frank had recorded her life on Facebook or Twitter. Very moving.
This series is superbly done. It is a sign of a fine production when all the actors give performances that leave you with a sense that they are the real people that they are portraying. Not actors. Daniel Day Lewis did this in " Lincoln ". The young lady that played Anne is fine actress and I hope that her career leaps ahead. All the actors should be proud of their work here.
Thank you for uploading this series. Anne Frank's life and story must never be forgotten.

I am a serious fan of Anne Frank and I don't know how I feel about this series. I read her diary and I don't want any other details to replace that feeling.
Tout à fait d’accord avec vous, moi je me base uniquement sur son journal et rien d’autre. Pourquoi raconter son histoire en mettant en scène une jeune fille jouant le rôle d’Anne surtout après l’arrestation alors que celle-ci n’a jamais rien écrit sur ce qu’il s’est passé car son journal était resté dans l’annexe. J’invite les personnes à consulter le témoignage de monsieur Franck en 1970 car étant le seul survivant de ce drame, lui seul pouvait savoir le déroulement de l’histoire et leur ressenti!!!!!

I just love how much appreciation this series has gotten! Here in the Netherlands, it has also been shown on national TV if I remember correctly, and if not, it was at least promoted. I needed to read this book for school, and I've been a fan of her story ever since!

I am overwhelmed by this remake of Anne Frank's Diary. I was in Anne Frank museum in January before the Netherlands is lockdown on March 2020. My first thought was being in quarantine is like Anne's diary in Worldwar II but in different scenario. I hope the Corona virus is gone and people will be able to visit the museum again. Thanks to those actors and actresses who portrayed their lifestory. Anne you are the strongest girl I know! Thanks for your diary. The whole world knows your story. I'm so proud of you ❤️

I have always been interested in Anne’s diary and first read it when I was eight years old. I didn’t get it at all but it was very interesting. I have read it again and I think it is great this way more people get to know her story. She was a great person and I love that I have the same name as her❤️

Ik snap niet waarom zoveel mensen dit respectloos vinden. Ik vind het een prachtige manier om zo'n stuk geschiedenis in beeld te brengen.
Remi Denk dat het meer om de vorm gaat. Het staat op CZcams en Anne Frank wordt hier afgebeeld als een soort CZcamsr/vlogger. Zulke veranderingen liggen gevoelig, omdat ze een jong meisje was die het zwaar had en op vroege leeftijd werd vermoord. Veel mensen vinden dat onsmakelijk en daarom moeten ze er aan wennen.

Dat klopt technisch gezien want ze houdt een video log bij, een dagboek in videovorm, maar dat is op zichzelf niet respectloos. Het zou respectloos zijn als ze de vidoe zou beginnen met "heee lieve kijkertjes welkom bij een nieuwe video! Vergeet niet te liken en subscriben!" maar dat doet ze niet. Veel mensen ordelen voordat ze het uberhaupt hebben gezien omdat ze denken dat tegenwoordig alles wel slecht en respectloos zal zijn.
