    One feature that I learned recently was programming the rear hatch! If you have a power hatch, you can manually put the lid where you want to open, press and hold the close button on the hatch lid for three seconds, it will beep, and every time after that it will only open to that height! Great if you have a low hanging ceiling in your garage or any other need to not have it open all the way.

    The door mirrors can be set to ‘ Always fold at this location’. A super useful feature here in the UK where a lot of our roads are so narrow. Well, most of our roads were built centuries before cars were invented. Yes I know. Hard to believe, but true. Anyway, you can set the door mirrors to ‘Always fold at this location’ any number of times. Not just the drive thru at Starbucks and McDonalds, but the pointless narrow bridge where no one is prepared to give way, the wooden bridge over the nearby canal, the barriers designed to stop drivers shopping easily at our local supermarket (I’m not joking), the local twin mini roundabouts leading to our local race course and the roundabout system at Swindon so awesomely challenging to negotiate that it is called The Magic Roundabout (google it!). Yes, ‘Always fold at this location’. It’s why my M3 door mirrors are still attached to the car.

  • @mattwz
    @mattwz Před 4 lety +9

    - Pretty simple one but you can push the turn signal stalk in the same direction to cancel (and only have to push to first detent). So if you put in the left turn signal on, you can push the stalk again left to cancel instead of a traditional mechanical stalk you'd have to push in the opposite direction to cancel.
    - Drive-thru Profile: There are some drive-thru's with tight curbs so I have another driver profile with the mirrors tilted down (like auto-tilt in reverse) which helps from curbing the wheels while in drive.
    Also, looks like Chris took a road trip to PA for some emergency TP!

    I played with Auto Park when it first came out. I doubt I would ever use as if I had to park that close to someone, I would find another spot as the cars next to me would probably hit my doors anyways. If there were no cars and just a tight spot - like poles - that would be more ideal for that functionality. Glad you reminded me as I had forgotten about that one.

    Great that you've done this. There's a real disconnect between the Jobs/Apple idea that you don't need a manual and the reality. (and yes I read the Tesla Owners Guide cover to cover). For some reason my iPhone 6s virtual keyboard is slightly wonky, so things I might've found out by using it I missed for years. (Teenagers who have nothing better to do than stare at their phones and talk about their phones will tell you this stuff and then laugh at you. )
    Lumbar support. Yep. Missed that one (I've owned a Model Y for a month now). I don't really understand lumbar support. Fiddling with it just makes me feel, well... kinda constipated. Or like there's a t-shirt or something stuffed back there.
    These others. Again. Didn't know.
    Turning off Self-Drive and Cruise Control. I was a bit confused for days that Cruise Control was still on after I took control by steering. It would also warn "Auto stop feature doesn't work ..." something like that. Still vague about what this means. In what modes will my Tesla keep me from running into things (other vehicles, pedestrians, also how small? A cat?)
    Auto Park - Yesterday I decided to figure out how to auto park. No clue. So more news.
    Home: I park behind my house. Strange addresses show up as my 'Home'. What's worse is because I live close to the Sheriff's Dept, when I'm driving around my screen tells me how far I'm away from 'home,' except instead of saying 'Home' it says something like "5.3 miles from the Sheriff's Dept." Makes me look like the police. I've had to give up meth and quit the militia....

    - Interesting and EXTREMELY ANNOYING BUG: try to say "navigate to the post office". Apparently 'office' is such a powerful key word, whatever else you say or how you say it, including you saying "drive to the Post Office" in this specific town or on this street, Tesla will plot the course for the... office, ignoring the 'post' part.
    - Good voice command tip (works for both navigation and phone): if Tesla misinterprets what you say or assumes a certain spelling variation that prevents it from finding your 'contact' or some street name, try SPELLING IT OUT.

    One thing about the turning AP off with the stalk that happened to me, super edge case and totally my fault but I was on an exit ramp and letting it drive all the way to the end to see if it would stop at the end of the ramp. As it got to the intersection the take over immediately alarm came on but it was stopping so I flipped the stalk up and came to a stop, light turned green, I hit the go pedal and started going backwards. What I hadn't noticed is a second before I tried to turn off AP it must of kicked out on it own so instead of turning off AP I actually put it in reverse as the car was going slow enough. Luckily I wasn't trying to take off fast as there was a car behind me. Totally my fault and doing something it's not intended for but thought I'd mention it for info and to give people a laugh.
