    Lynch has some of the craziest licks if you ever break them down. Almost like he's playing 3d chess on a guitar, while most others are only playing checkers. I'm also noticing Don used to have a little Klaus Meine, and a little Rob Halford, maybe even a little Helloween in his voice... seems to come out more live.

    I was at this show...just cant remember who Dokken opened for...lol Mebbe Judas Priest? Kinda fuzzy on the details of all those mid & late 80's metal shows I saw at the Spectrum. But this one I definitely went to see Dokken for the second time. Saw them in '86 opening for Maiden(?) and that definitely made me a bigger fan after seeing George live. Also Don's voice was pretty damn good live back in those days too.
    Thanks for posting this gem!!! \m/

    I liked them too. But judging from the comments people just don't dig very deep at all to see what's out there. I understand that people are spoon fed whatever flavor of the day but Dokken was only the tip of the iceberg. If you didn't grow up in the 80s or even if you did, research a little bit more and you'll really be blown away by what else was lurking just beneath the surface.

    Don was losing his voice by Back for The Attack. Arrogant prick!!! He saved his steams and talked through most songs.. Lynch is on the money on this tour. Don't know why he changed his tone later on? Progressively got bad. Added phaser to all his solos trying to be a VH clone. Back for the Attack is the sickest guitar tone IMO. Rhythm and lead tone delay is monsterous!!!!

    Tooth and Nail was recorded on 4 track. The best modern rock album ever recorded on 4 track. The band and producer got creative and cranked out a great album in a high pressure environment. Amazing band. Great opening act that never got any meaningful headliner traction.

    • @machupikachu1085
      @machupikachu1085 Před rokem

      I'm sure the demos for the album were recorded on a 4 track, but the actual recording sessions for that release were recorded at Cherokee in Los Angeles with Roy Thomas Baker and the guy who produced Shout at the Devil. Cherokee had a 24 channel reel to reel at the time. I agree though, it is a fantastic album.
      Cheers!

    I never knew why Don didn't have his guitar in hand! FYI: Don is an awesome guitarist. I saw Don Dokken when he had 2 guitarist (Norum and White?) and that was the first time it sounded remotely like the studio cuts!! ~George was my main guitar man back in those days but Don should have filled it in behind his solo's!! ~just my opinion!!
