- One of the most visionary artists in the electronic world today, Mat Zo makes music both forward-pushing and timeless, exactingly crafted and intensely emotional. As shown on his full-length debut Damage Control(nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2015 Grammy Awards), the 24-year-old producer/DJ boldly yet gracefully warps boundaries, constructing entire worlds with ever-changing texture and mood.
Born in London under the name Matan Zohar, Zo learned to play guitar, bass, and drums by the time he was 12 and released his debut single on a:Loud Recordings at age 16. By 2012, he’d teamed up with Porter Robinson for “Easy” (a single that hit #1 on Beatport Top 100 chart) and begun work on his first album. Since putting out Damage Control-which climbed to #1 on the iTunes Dance chart the day it dropped-Zo launched a record label named Mad Zoo and had taken the stage everywhere from Madison Square Garden to major festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival, and TomorrowLand.
“The last album showed that it’s possible to be all over the place with sound or genre and still stay true to your sensibility,” says Zo. “Letting yourself be completely open and try out whatever you want can make the process a lot harder in some ways-but it also gives you the most freedom, and I think that’s so important for making the whole thing feel alive.”

As an artist that Mat shared his Mad Zoo platform with, I cannot put into words how grateful I am, and hope someday I can do the same for others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mat.
Such a humble dude. Mat Zo is one of the most legendary electronic artists. Trance, edm, DnB, experimental - he does it right. I can't wait for what he brings us in the future.

MUCH MUSIC i love it!!!
The Best producer
Good interview. Loved his comments about comparing his older stuff to his recent stuff. He went by more feeling and less thinking. It was a reflective observation and I can definitely see the difference in his music. His old stuff was my favorite!

Yes Porter PLS
Please Get Herobust for an interview
Imho, "experts" & "professional" doctors get paid by getting "patients" into medical programs. Most humans I know all have "bipolar" mood swings so it is natural to feel different emotions. Great interview! Blessings 🌌🌠
Chris Lg I absolutely agree. And if you're reading this Mat, don't give into the system! We all have some sort of mental issues but our brain is SOOO powerful and with being conscious about your problem and working on it, in time you will reverse it or at least manage it well. You don't want to be dependent on big pharma's medication... peace!
oooo you should clairo next
for a moment I thought it was the guy from Nickelback bc of the thumbnail lmao
Hell yeah I thought that too... Made me have to 🎵"Look at this photograph"🎵
PORTER OR MADEON PLS
Unripelemon!
27:02 Mat talking about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder
P.S. It is best to say "I have bipolar disorder" rather than "I am bipolar". I learned that in a support group. And my best advice to anyone with bipolar disorder who reads this in the future: First thing you should do is get a therapist!! Taking that step saved my life, personally.
