  • Just what is Rider Switch at Disneyland and how do I use it? Rider Switch is a fantastic service for parents and caretakers allowing them (and 2 members of the party) to wait with group members unable or unwilling to ride. In this video we break down the rules, which attractions offer it, if you qualify and how to utilize the program!

    Can you do rider switch in the lightning lanes if you buy the genie plus?

      Great question! Yes you can, but only on the rides it is offered on, so only on some of them. disneyland.disney.go.com/guest-services/rider-switch/

    Wow! Exactly the video I needed! We’ve got a 5 and 1 year old so it looks like the one year old we be our ticket to shorter lines without the need of lighting lanes for genie plus!

    Fantastic video Disneyland Beat! Clever way of using Incredicoaster as an example for it, especially since in that attraction, Jack Jack can’t ride it and Edna Mode has to watch over him. Keep up the magical work! 😃👍✹

    Just got home, like the new intro. Question: Why were two of the main wheels under the Big Thunder R.R. steam locomotive removed? When the ride was new there were four main wheels under the loco and two smaller wheels under the cab, now there only two main wheels ""the ones to the front"" and the two small ones under the cab. Great watch with lots of information Thanks to the Disneyland Beat Team.......

      Hi Mike Marin! Thanks! This is my off the top of my head recollection of that. I THINK it was the 2003 incident that led to a fatality on the ride. A bolt came undone and a lower wheel fell off during operation and the back of the engine came loose and airborne. Though it was blamed on maintenance, the brake system around the function that that rear wheel provided was changed after that to prevent it from happening again!

    If we are 2 couples , and one couple has an infant , is it possible to do the ride switch between the couples for example , a couple wait at the line and play then after they are done they take the infant and the ather couple play

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed rokem +1

      Maybe is the best answer I have. I think the best bet to make it work is everybody would wait in line and then mom would ride with one of the guests while dad, the other guest and the kiddo waited. Then dad would ride with the other guest I think that would be the best way to approach it.
      I’m a little bit out of touch on this because our kid is now 10 and rides everything :-) I would recommend if it’s in your budget to do the lightning Lane service that way two people can wait with the kid somewhere near the ride then after have a new group ride it while they hang out with the kiddos much more fun for your kiddo and they won’t have to wait in line as much

    If I have 4 ILL tics for rise for my group of 4 (mom, dad, 14, 8). 8 doesn’t wanna ride rise. Can I use rider swap? Mom and 14 in group a. Dad and 14 in group b.

      Yes you should not have a problem 8 is too young to be left alone! Lucky 14 yr old!

    I’m traveling soon with my wife and son and 2 preteens 15 and 16. Are we still able to Ride with Party 1 with 2 teens and then switch to Party 2 with 2 teens again while we switch off our son?

    Can dad and the boy from a family 4 (mom, dad 1 boy and 1 girl) ride the attraction twice or mom and dad must swap to ride with the boy? Thanks!

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed rokem

      I’m a bit confused by the question so not sure how to answer. As long as there is a member of the party who doesn’t want to ride and is too young to be left unsupervised, they will usually let it go. The main idea of the service is to make riding the ride possible for groups with little kids and not enough supervisors in the group to make taking turns happen. If they see your group could make it happen (has enough adults/older kids) without the service they may not allow it. Make sense?

    So if I’m with my partner my 6 year old and my one year old, could me and my 6 year old go on a ride while my partner minds the baby then use rider switch to let my partner and 6 year old go on the ride again while I mind the baby this time? Essentially my 6 year old gets to go on the ride twice once with me then straight away again with his mom ?

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed 10 měsĂci

      Precisely! Make sure to check in with a cast member at the big rides, they will be at the start of the lines minding 'lightning lane'!

    This is a mix of Genie+ and rider switch question. If all of us have genie+, then can we book the same ride sched but split Party A to Party B? Scenario: X,Y,Z has genie+ linked to Z's disneyland app. Z booked space mountain for XYZ but Z's baby cannot ride so they are doing a riderswitch so only XY will ride first. At their return window, will the CM scan everyone's ticket even if only XY are riding first? Will Z be able to book a new genie+ ride while waiting for XY to come back?

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed 27 dny

      In order to use a combination of Genie plus and rider switch everybody’s ticket is going to need to get scanned when they ride not before. So only scan 2 tix. Then scan the third when it’s their turn. It’s like waiting in lightning lane twice for ‘Z’

    To clarify... If the kiddos are scared of dark rides but the adults love them, at least one of the adults would be out of luck OR they would have to take turns waiting in line?

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Only the 20 rides we list at the end of the video offer rider switch. So with dark rides specifically, with the exception of Rise of The Resistance, yes. One saving grace, many of the dark rides do typically have shorter wait times.

    Wouldn’t it be faster if two parents with an infant just use single rider. Say one parent goes into single rider after he gets off the other one gets in single rider instead of the one parent maybe waiting in line an hour by them self

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed rokem

      Yes single rider would likely be faster I agree. But this accommodates groups with multiple kids!
