I'm trying to think of another songwriter who could write a song like Yesterday, then write Helter Skelter ? one song he could have given to Sinatra, and another he could have given Black Sabbath, the man is a genius.
not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new series on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf for the last days :)
I remember the very first time I heard this song, playing the White Album for the first time in its entirety... got to Helter Skelter, and I was blown away. Such raw intensity...especially considering that it comes right after Sexy Sadie, which is Lennon being very mellow, and then WHAM! It smacks you right in the face. By today's standards, it's not considered "heavy", it pales in comparison, but at THAT time it was new, heavy, raw, transcending, frenzied, ... and fantastic.
Michelle Crosby.....I felt the same way & would not listen to this for about 30 yrs because of Manson :( But this song is about an amazing huge & " FUN" roller coaster in England :) So think about that every time U listen to this & ENJOY ! LETS TAKE THE POWER BACK FROM MANSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video exemplifies what music should be about. All labels are stripped away and we're just people for the moment.Couples dancing, guys headbanging and air guitaring, and girls dancing as the music frees them.We need more of these moments.
I bow down.....possibly one of the best live music performances ever....and I am not a Beatles fan particularly (but I did like "Things we said today")
Paul has written songs in all gneres, and is good at it. hes done classical/orchestra/choral symphonies, a celtic song, calssic rock, pop, balaads, Indina music, heavy rock, country, kids, and every combination u can imagine- and yest his music just never repeats or gets old. Paul=musical genius!
I don't buy into the crazy conspiracy theory, but this performance doesn't do anything to help debunk it. Search youtube for videos of Paul singing this with the Beatles and frankly he sings it entirely different, different timbre (expected to change with age) but it's not just the tone of his voice, his phrasing is different and he's off pitch very often in this video.. How did a young Paul without the help of modern tech like in-ear monitors, etc... pull off such great performances on stage in the early 60s but today sounds like a bad impersonator? I realize he's a symbol and the crowd doesn't give a shit because he's a legend, but putting that aside and putting aside the great band performance here, Paul's contribution to this song is not the best case for "Paul isn't dead" although I'm fairly certain it is the same man, he might as well be someone else.. On the flip side at least he's out there still performing.
@@rmzzz76 im late but i wanted to point out that youre misguided by this PID bullshit. The believers of this bullshit theory says original paul died 1966. But helter skelter was written in 1968 and the so called replacement of original paul wrote it. So the man performing this song today was no other than the replacement. There are so many networks of inconsistencies to support the bullshit theory and it just doesnt make sense anymore for people like you to not consider it a hoax

hell yeah...still rocking baby! still hitting that high note...the best beatle and by far the best musician/bassist ever to walk the planet...he was born with talent and john lennon was so jealous of him...
Terrific vocals and amazing instrumental playing, I wish that The Rolling Stones sounded half as good in their live shows. Mick Jagger has no vocals since the late seventies and their live performances are blah.
Wow, look how he has more than 60 years and still makes men and women of all ages cry and scream like that XD I'm lucky, I'm 13 and I saw him live in the Hollywood Bowl :D I'm such a fan of him!!! When he sang this I went like crazy :P

A lot of people categorize the Beatles as more or less of a pop music band. Well, you can hardly call Helter Skelter some pop song. It is pure HARD ROCK at its best and written by and sung by the iconic and legendary Paul McCartney.
i love when older songs, as amazing as they were get really turned up like this. i wonder how many rocked up modern songs would sound as good if they were played without the guitar distortion and all that. good melodies never die
The very first form of heavy metal can be heard on the song "I can see for miles" by The Who. McCartney was totally blown away when he heard the song that he wanted to inform The Who that he could write a similar "heavy" song and he wrote Helter Skelter. A few things about the song for those of you not familiar: Helter Skelter is the name of an amusement park ride in England. Paul wrote and arranged about 95% of the song. He wrote it because he wanted to make a full-on, balls to the wall, screamin' rock song. John thought the song was "pure rubbish".

It is the fact that Paul still had the vocal power that nails this (and this is way more laid back and released than the original!) - a classic
@NOHOPEFORHUMANITY Actually, I have that problem too....
It's funny to see Paul at like 70 and all the fans are in their 50's and 60's just ROCKIN OUT to THE mother of all heavy metal songs.
