I'm super curious though, how on earth do you keep the pipes and pumps free from corrosion with all that sea water going through the system? How do you even check for corrosion in the piping?
ballast pipes are coated internally with a rubber lining of some sorts, but over time these fail. Pipes should be inspected during every 5 year survey in the yard. Even then, breakdowns and leaks occur.
