Xu Xin has one of the best elegant styles in table tennis. His playing style is unique. I don’t want that Xu Xin to retire. I hope that he can play as long as possible since watching him play is very entertained.

Xu Xin forehand topspin or sidespin is unique and out of the world. Even the Top players of all over world agreed many times. You are right, I think there would be no one again like Xu Xin to refill his position for China. Please don't retire Xu Xin. Please play still another 5 years. I am a biggest fan of your game style.
His playstyle is unique and very entertaining to watch, after he retires there will not be any penholders left, especially like he.
Actually, there is Dang Qiu in the top ten, but his playing style is too diferent, I will miss XX.

Tbh there has been no one like xx s forehand. Btw I think every penholder who has been top 3 in the world were capable of something that no one else does. Wang hao’s rpb, ma Lin’s serve &serve receives & tactics, xu Xin’s unique forehand touch, ryu seung min’s crazy range &powerful forehand.

What you would prefer in your forehand doesn’t matter anymore as the last versions of the ball are every time less spiny so nowadays just speed and power matters.

Does having arc-y topspin style have anything to do with equipment? Like, I think typical chinese rubbers produce very linear trajectory and hence, the ball travels faster and it suits typical chinese play style really well. What equipment does XX use for his style?
huh, typical chinese rubber is anything but linear trajectory, but it is linear in power output
Its more a matter of technic. Lets take Timo Boll for example. He has a very high arc openining topspin with lots of rotation but a average veocity. This ball is much harder to block in compairison to a chinese level topspin. Ok, you need to be very fast with good reflexes for that, but since the ball flies faster, he jumps back ond the opponents table easier.
In oder words, the opening topspin with lots of rotation often create bad return, which you can attack then, with a more chinese style 'forward topspin' (less rotation, but tons of speed and a good placement). The two strokes require pretty different technic. You can check timo bolls topspin on yt. Then go for somedy like ma long...
Don’t play long against XuXin ever. That’s the number 1 rule. 😃
xu xin has amazing skill but the game evolved a bit against him because the big plastic ball and no speed glue is better for close table two wing attackers, xu xin is almost like a jpen player who learned RBP which is not the ideal style for today. amazing he got double digits wins against FZD and ma long under those circumstances, imagine his spin with 38mm ball and speed glue, he would have been absolute terror and probably came a few years too late (still an amazing career).

I think his playing style is nearly out of date because he try to play far away from table and the ball loop is pretty slow if he play with other players who counter attack with power ball like Fan and Harimoto ...he will lost easily.

In theory you are right. But in spite of it Xu Xin, with his unique style, was able to be again number 1 in the world in 2019, he just has a magic! That’s why we love him, he is pure entertainment and style
