Saw some Patchnotes for a Hotfix today. still need to check for myself but it could be reverted
"Fixed an issue where the Psyker "Nomanus Mk VI Surge Force Staff" and “Smite” blitz would target random enemy hitzones.
Dev note: This resulted in heavily reduced damage when a limb body part was targeted. The on-kill gore effects will still affect different enemy body parts at random, but the damage will be normalised."
@@vaskur8998 I can assure you there was no "revert" to the nerf (or rather, fix), the damage with or without Empowered Psionic is roughly similar (certainly not 125% more with it). Back to Voidstrike I guess...

this should be the standard damage on the surge staff, it's range is so so, the number of target is 2-3, the amount perill gained is pretty fast, there's more negative than positives if it goes back to the original
they jsut patched it, and it's nigh worthless again, surge atleast cced in older version now it's jsut some mediocre shit damage with insane peril generation..
This looks to have been patched with this morning's update.
Fixed issue where the Nomanus Mk VI Surge Force Staff received the ‘Smite’ Bonuses from ‘Empowered Psionics’.
I like to run this build with the push ability, cause it gives you the ability to disperse 50% peril when you overload by mistake, which happens to me a bit too much on psyker 😅
I was doing that then switched to this build...I was so used to overloading then using my push that i now blow up all the time lol.
On a side note should also be mentioned that both of smites abilities effect your surge staff chain lightning gives you an extra target and enfeeble lets friendlys do more damage but thats really not that usefull considering the opportunity window and your gonna be one shooting most stuff
Is it confirmed Enfeeble works? Some say it doesn't while the extra chain skill does work
@@prich0382 funny enough, enfeeble doesn't even work on regular charged smite, so yeah, it doesn't work on the staff either.
Even without the bug, the build looks extremely fun, well done video!

Hopefully they don't remove it, I see it as a fair trade off vs how smite works. The staff hits fewer people but does more damage to each while smite hits many but does far less damage.
There are a few people screaming bloody murder on the FS forums because they think that Pskyers are doing "30k" more damage in Auric Maelstrom games or running ahead and killing everything. The sad part is that I think they believe that this bug is causing Pskyers to solo the hardest content and not die.. But they are forum Chads and need to be the loudest so they can feel important.

If you're taking full advantage of the bugs, consider taking smite so you can get the +1 chains modifier.
The + 1 extra chain provides roughly 20-30 damage and no stun
Definitely strong strong because of the bug. The builds on Lantern sometimes mention a description to give the gist of the Play style. But no one really stating the bug that's applied to this build. I feel bad for using it only because some night think I'm doing it on purpose. I just used the build to power level my psyker and haven't stopped 😂
Don't feel bad; just follow the patch. New patch, new fun stuff to play and experiment with.

Waste of 2 points grabbing Overpowering Souls and Charged Up, can just use chance to proc Empowered Psionics and be done with it, once it's on, it's on and the other skills after so pretty much nothing
And now this bug is fixed. Thank god.
If I may ask, what is the point of taking those last 2 keystone talent points? The one that guarantees a stack on elite kill and the one giving you a max of 3 stacks? We will never spend those stacks anyway, right?
Also what about the other keystone talent? Replenish 15% toughness to your team when using blitz while empowered, would that work with surge staff?
Thats a great point, it was my understanding that having 3 stacks produced more damage. I will take a look and update the games lantern guide with my findings
I'm surprised that FS hasn't patched it to ONLY work if you get an Elite kill with your Blitz attack, or put some timer on it like the left side.
The bug was fixed in todays patch
Even tho it's "bugged" why do i feel like it's finally keeping up with everyone else and their damage output? Anything they look at with what they got kills it instantly, mine should too damn it! Lol

Yea the buff seems to actually bring the weapon up to speed with the other broken psyker stuff. I would say it needs at least 50% increased damage after the bug is fixed
No idea what you mean, Psyker is a glass cannon so matter what you run, emphasis on the cannon. Empowered surge is an exploit and horrifically OP. Everytime I play with a surge psyker nowadays they clear the entire team by at least 30k dmg.
@agedgouda8809 Nah, they need to keep the Surge Staff's single target dmg on that level but fix the spreading to additional targets buff. If they reduce it's dmg it's gonna be trash tier again. Literally every second gun in the game kills specials and elites faster than a non-bugged Surge Staff. The surge staff being the Psykers dedicated single target staff means it has to be good at that or nobodies gonna play it.

Great info and build! I don't get the whole socks with sandals thing either. It's like, you have time and energy to put on socks, but then are too lazy to put on shoes? Pick one bro. I also have an aversion to people who wear jeans and sandals. Same concept. You could do without the modifier for rupture, would another node be more useful?
Now if it Consumed the stack ... for any Staff Attacks... it'd make sense.
Just tried this (only diff is I took the 12.5 % for orb) and it works just like you said. Pretty damn effective
It is broken because its a glitch. Empowered psionic is buffing surge staff's damage unintendedly
I can see why you pick Brain Rupture but im my exprience just having smite available is worth way more than extra single target damage. you are not going to just murder 10+ crushers and maulers running at you and you kinda don't want to melee a whole horde with mixed elites/specialists (i'm talking strictly Auric here) Still looks like a nice build.
Btw what is that mod you got which tells you when grims and scriptures are nearby?

Also the smite modifier talents work for surge too. 1 more jump for surge is negligible damage but very nice for CC, not 100% sure if the 10% damage buff applies too but what little we know about the bug I see no reason why it shouldn’t.

I don't understand brain rupture on any build. 1k damage for that charge time on a single enemy? The hell?
A revolver headshot does about 700, penetrates, and has five shots. I guess ammo would be the issue on Auric missions yet still.
I always feel like I am missing something to things like Brain Burst.
It is like using a shotgun over a revolver on the Zealot. No matter what I try the Revolver does more damage, can snipe, and is faster in drawing and dodging. Just a few less bullets, but you need less bullets to kill so it works out.
I guess staggering groups of things the shotguns are good at or piercing shields with special rounds.
Anyway taking smite for the +1 chain makes the surge staff even more OP. Or assail for hordes since the surge staff works on single targets well enough.
@@dianapennepacker6854 BR can 2-3 (1 shot if the passive thing procs aswell so basicly 2 BR in 1 cast) Crushers. It's not good enough I agree. it's good for sniping high prio targets and more safe than revolver since you only need LOS to start casting. Is it as good as Assail or Smite? no. is it so bad it's useless? no. has some neach moments but that's about it. Still fun and satisfying (sounds hehe) when you 1 tab something with the proc.
If I could suggest, a guide for returning players from patch 8 would be great!

This really got the surge staff deleted from the game.
I don't know how much of a difference it makes, but you're not using all of the bugs. Both of the Smite passives also work on the surge staff, so you can attack three enemies instead of two.
Not both of them. The +10 damage one doesn't work, presumably because it doesn't even work on regular charged smite.
@@cyan8237What is a +10 damage? it has two nods, +1 extra enemy that smite can jump to and faster lightning spread. The +1 enemy works on surge staff as surge is only +2 enemies by default, with this it becomes +3 enemies.

I believe what happened here is that when the patched rolled out with Empowered Psionics doing 125% more damage with SMITE. IT also affected the attacks from the Surge staff since both are electric attacks. If you use the surge staff without smite it just acted normaly.
Well he's using it without Smite but still getting the damage boost
good build i enjoy it very much, altho for me my ranged/ melee brainburst psyker with the 3rd ability is a bit more fun, but this one is def stronger
build is good but you needn`t 3 stack it`s doesnt scale dmg =)

When I get matched with a Psyker with a surge staff and smite, I leave, assuming they're exploiting this bug. In my experience when I do play a match with one of them, it trivializes the match. I look forward to when this bug gets fixed, and while they're at it, nerf Assail too

Playing with psykers abusing this bug is an absolute CHORE. THANKS for spreading the word and contributiong in creating an entire wave of entitled players thinking they go on T5 at level 27 to one shot everything without learning the basics of the game first. If you're considering running this : PLEASE DON'T. You'll ruin your mates' fun and your own by making tha game too easy. Fatshark needs to fix this urgently, the consequence for new and learning players are honestly catastrophic for the community. Personally if I see a player running this build in my lobby I just leave.

Psykers are powerful enough but the Emp Psionics/Surge bug needs to be addressed. At the same time, perhaps reduce the power of the Kickback and maybe even cleave on the Plasma Gun.
They're fun to use but my lord, they are so broken......as you say.

Does lightning storm on smite cause your surge staff to hit an additional target? If so that might be the way to go.
