I fell in love with Marion, I truly did. I loved the voice actor from the Audible recording, too. I wish the book never had an ending, I want to know what Marion is doing now. The character seemed so real, tangilble. So much so, I picture Dr. Marion Stone doing lectures regarding liver transplantation at a TedTalks on youtube. Sometimes I hope to see him on one of iTunes U med school podcast. Such a beautiful story.
This promo vid is not hype! It is beautifully written about a "family" of health care providers who treat people no one else will. I loved learning about some of the history and culture of India & Ethiopia/Eritrea through the experiences of the characters.
Am loving this book, Marion just arrived in NY so we shall see if his father re-enters the scene. I wish someone would make it into a movie! The voice for the trailer is just awful, she sounds so sad and bored.
One of the most enthralling and best-written books I have ever read - and I was a teacher of English Literature for almost 30 years!

An amazing book - one of the best I've read in a long time. This is great literature.
One the best, most riveting and moving books I've ever read. I was simply floored by Verghese capacity of storytelling. A must read.
Excellent trailer ... I am almost half way through this novel ... great ... cannot wait to finish this and read another of Mr Verghese's books ...
We have been waiting! Bravo!
