  • This Harvard Medical School Continuing Education video examines the key question: what types of therapy are effective for youth depression?
Dr. Erica Lee, PhD, describes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and provides examples in the context of youth mental health and depression. She discusses evidence-based strategies to help teens overcome negative thought and behavior patterns and reviews DBT, or dialectical behavior therapy, as a tool for addressing more severe depression symptoms. Interpersonal therapy (IPT) is also discussed as a method of helping teens improve their moods and communicate the more effectively.
Dr. Lee is an instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School, and this video is part 10 in the 21-part series: Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
