is shining required for lin to tank in high risk? or is it only to allow her to safely use her skill

Likely yes. Shining gives way more DEF than Lin gets from her extra levels.
Shining with max MOD-Y gives 100 DEF, while extra levels (past E2 60) on Lin and her MOD (past lvl 1) only give 18 DEF combined.
Lin's skill doesn't seem to be needed, except for little speed-up of the run.

Bagpipe only has pot 2. Even pot-less Bagpipe gives Cantabile enough SP to stealth immediately (same for Ines S2, which is not used tho).

Because they had to deploy ines to bind the grandpa that leaked past ceobe, but her s2 would’ve caused her to take a hit from the invisible guys, giving them enough attack to pierce through lin’s barrier.

Not quite. Lin has a unique trait of not getting damage from hits less then 200 damage. Carnelian will be killed

the reefbreakers start scaling attack and attack speed when they do damage. carnelian doesnt block damage, so they will start scaling vs her and destroy her

Shinning is there to increase Lin's defence. So, her shield doesn't break.

If Shining wasn't there then Lin's shield would be broken and she'd get an instant death
