  • Even if the punchline was super obvious, I'm surprised how hard they went on the horror aspect. Hope they go super hard on genres more in the future.
Anyway this might be my least favourite stage so far. The Nintendo representation is the usual stuff (even if some of the choices are a bit confusing) but the gameplay on average has to be the worst so far.
I'm noticing an unusual amount of microgames in this game in general that require stupid reactions. The Animal Crossing one feels like it'd be really stupid in All Mixed Up where the form memo strat doesn't really work. There's others in other stages I'll talk about when I get to them.
Fire Emblem one is kinda funny because it more than made up for how laughably easy their last microgame was. Now it swaps out Hand Model's usual jank for absurdly tight reactions and precision. It's super overtuned for some reason.
Some janky ones around like the DK one and Yoshi one. Guess it's not as egregious as some other stages though so I'll give it that. The SMB3 one feels really awkward more in gameplay though. I just see the form and move early to avoid the whole thing, though there is also that pattern with Bullet Bills at the top to start so you have to react a little later. I'll have to learn it proper sooner or later though...
Bummed to see another "stay still" microgame lol I'm really bad at those. There's quite a few microgames about being steady which I guess makes sense. I think my sense of balance in general is abnormally bad, especially for a WarioWare fan.
Boss stage seems like a really confusing choice. I'm a defender of Mario 64 DS but... idk really that's the best they could come up with? Using the three slide courses as difficulty levels is clever but it means there's nothing fresh here except for the controls. Kinda a letdown.
Also it gets too fast for me lol I'm just gonna admit without more practice and knowledge on strats to survive some parts I'm just not gonna be able to pull it off on max speed often. That's not a criticism though.
Does someone on the WarioWare staff really have it out for Pinball because it keeps showing up and it's always terrible. Please stop doing these, they never feel intuitive or fun or like you even have much say in where you fire them. I'd say this is the only microgame so far in the game I'd call flat out terrible and tbh it does really bring the stage down a lot and I didn't even like it to begin with.
Yeah I don't really see myself coming back to this stage much unless there happens to be some logic to the pinball one (and if I get good at the boss stage kek). Was a bit disappointed this time around but I'm sure others see it differently, not every stage can be a hit.

Yeah this is weirdly one of the more disappointing stages imo. Compared to previous Wariowares there aren't too many memorable microgames here (except for the Cucco one, that one is peak). Also, it kinda sucks that because of the conceit of this level, we don't really get to see any of 18 volt or 5 volt in Move It. I know Gold went a bit overkill with 3 Nintendo Levels, but man do I miss hearing 5 volt say "You're a star"

Was thinking an alternative to this boss microgame would be the Tightrope Walk minigame in Wii Fit, using the Scales form. Leaning forward to step along the tightrope and then jumping to avoid the obstacles. Although we already have a Mii microgame, it would balance out the 5-6 Mario microgames fitted in lol.

I was thinking of giving rep to some more recent Nintendo IP that hasn't been done much in his stages like Splatoon or ARMS or something, something that represents the recent generation somewhat.

I feel 9 volt's biggest crime was to instead of a don't move microgame with warioware references, they should have made a Smooth Moves call back microgame and return some of the Orbulon nunchuck microgames I think it would have been great and they should have just picked the form that applied the best like sky stretch for the one where you have to wave at a boat. Could have been better but it could have gone worse (I really don't like his stage in touched!)
This stage had a bit too much Mario and a bit too much switch games, like the fire emblem one or the ring fit one

Yeah, recasting Mario for *ONLY A MICROGAME* that's based on Super Mario 64 feels a bit redundant, as they could've gone with archived recordings of Charles Martinet's voice in Mario 64 and called it a day. Why'd they have to create more work for Kevin in that way when he's already voicing Wario?
