- During the Robert Barr Storyline. Eden has taken some time off to be away by herself - she returns to find out Cruz was injured while searching for Mason and Julia. They haven't seen each other for two weeks and Cruz is hoping Eden has finally made a decision. Part 2 of 2

You have to look at the totality of their relationship. The reason the Robert Barr storyline worked is because Eden had actually forgot about him and met Cruz. Also at this point in Eden’s life she is bored just being a wife and mother. She has always lived in excitement so I think that uneasy feeling Eden had played into this role. But I also had a chance to look that the Victoria storyline and there was a lot Cruz would not tell Eden that made her very insecure. I think the same thing is happening here with Cruz. But if you go back to beginning of relationship Cruz has always tried to get Eden to give him a straightforward answer about their relationship. This response by her is nothing new. I do believe Eden was torn but she also accepted a lot of what life threw at her. I give her a lot of credit for accepting and raising Chip as her own. But at times when you are a wife and mom you can feel like you are losing your identity. With all that said this is what made the writing so good because you can relate to these two. They were able to pull you in. The writers took time to tell their story. I think today Soaps think we just need constant drama and turmoil. It was great watching Cruz and Eden’s story because there are so many moments like these of just the two of them talking. You don’t see this on soaps today. So many people have multiple partners the great love stories have seemed to take a back seat and we are just left with these stories with characters who lack real depth. There was something about how soaps were written in the 80s and 90s we don’t see today.
The angst just kills me. I love Cruz & Eden!

@CarolC32 That was the best part of the Cruz/Eden/Robert story - although it did seem a little odd at times. Eden gave up Robert, then she would go back to him, then she gave him up again etc. I have a scene that's really good between Cruz and Nikki, but it's centered around Eden as Cruz goes through his own angst. I'll have to post it too.
Then she sent Cruz divorce papers in the mail.. XD

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I really wish that the writers had the guts to get Eden and Robert together. They had chemistry and were good together. By this point in the show, they had clearly run out of stories for Cruz and Eden as a couple (look at the horrible split personality story that was coming). Robert and Eden would've been an interesting pair and it would've created new stories. Same for Cruz. Hook him up with someone new and you have a bunch of new stories to tell.
The problem with SB is that they were ALWAYS breaking up Cruz and Eden. If they got together you knew immediately that they would break up again soon. The writers became victims of their own storytelling. You can't create the 2nd best love story ever told (#1 goes to Romeo & Juliet :)) and expect us to believe that Eden would leave Cruz for Robert Barr, naaahhhhh!!!.

That's why SB lost so many ratings. Because of this. Cruz and Eden belonged together.
Kimberly Tyrcha, I totally agree with you! Eden should be together with Robert because it's a great chemistry between them.
