I did a quick side by side using the same watch face on both the New Tactix 7 Amoled and the Enduro 2....
I will say the Enduro 2 battery life has no competition!

MIP displays are much more readable and power-efficient. It's my choice for smartwatches. I hope Garmin will never abandon this gorgeous display type.

I have a few days left to decide if I want to keep my Tactix 7 AMOLED or return it for another watch. I'm coming off the Apple Ultra 2 and that's why I chose the AMOLED, I loved their brightness. I hated that I had to charge it everyday. I've had the Tactix for 3 weeks now and I tried the AOD for a week and then the Gesture mode for a week. I liked the AOD setup better, so this week has been set that way. The battery life is amazing and the Morning Report and a few alerts I receive daily are nice too. The Apple had alerts minimally every hour and it was too much.
I'm going to keep this watch and leave it on AOD. I have only charged it once, because I did a MAP update. I charged it Monday March 11th and after 9 days, I'm at 34%/4 days...WOW.
I'm going to charge it at 20% and bring it to 80%.
Yesterday I had the 16.2.2 update drop and the flashlight update is awesome. really a useful tool that I use every night, while making my march to the bathroom in the dark.
Each to their own i guess. I prefer the MIPS.. I really hope Garmin continue with a MIPS version...

I prefer MIP, because it can be read clearly, and I made custom my watch face, so MIP support it. That's why I choose 955 solar rather than 965 or 265. I used Coros watch face style for my Fr 955 Solar, it's so awesome

I’m afraid that’s the downfall of the new screen, the sun. Vs the older screen using the sun as its light when outside.
Both are very nice, I just couldn't justify an extra $300 dollars for the amoled. After seeing this video I like the standard better in sunlight and the amoled better inside a building. Thanks for sharing 👍

Battery life though…
I’ve got a fenix 7 pro sapphire solar… I charge it once a month and that’s getting notifications from my CZcams as well.
I’m like you man. I was a gifted a garmin years ago and now I’m on my fourth. But that amoled can’t last near as long right?
Can't go wrong with either display. Amoled is wonderful, but MIP is still crystal clear and easy to read and doesn't drain the battery as much as amoled. Give and take.
Enduro definetly better in the sunlight, and Tactix Amoled much better inside for sure. For me since i only use it for runs/hikes/Ski outside, and not much inside i prefer the Enduro and its amazing batterylife.
Can you do a flashlight test at night? I have the tactix 7 pro and Id like the brighter light thats on the enduro 2. Hopefully the new tactixd has one similar if not brighter

Inside you see the big difference: The mip-display is also at brightness-level 10 or 100% much darker than the AMOLED display. There is no doubt. I gave my tactix delta solar back, because in normal cloudy days, in rooms or at night - the MIP display was so dim, that you can`t see anything. Only in sunshine the mip is better. But I think, Garmin react now and brought the new AMOLED version.

Hi! Thanks for these videos of the new tactix amoled! 👍🏻 so the display is still not "a true always on display"? It dims after max 15 sec? Even when using maps? Its little bit annoying to raise the wrist all the time to activate the screen...
Yes it does dim after the 15sec brightness with Always on display set. The map also dims the same way. I've already gotten use to it. Really not that bad. It always lights up when I look at it. Hopefully in an update they can add more options to keep it on.
Id like to see a comparison with both next to each other with AOD enabled and no backlighting. Not sure why all these Amoled reviews always have the AOD off. I wanna know what it looks like on my wrist when I’m not touching the screen. What’s the use of all these attractive watch faces and not being able to see it unless the backlight is on

I been rocking that same watch face these past few months. I really like it. Just wish some of the numbers for the clock didn’t have weird spacing.
I also wish garmin had a trade in program. I bought a tactix 7 standard last year and was mad jelly when the epix 2 pro came out when the oled screen. The only thing better would’ve been a tactix with oled and now look at what we got! How do you like it now that you’ve worn it a bit compared to the MIP display?
I absolutely love the Tactix 7 Amoled. Such a nice looking watch! It's great having such a sharp screen. The watch faces look more intricate with detail and also the maps are very clear!
yes its a shame they have no trade in program. They'd make way more sales I'm sure.
Debating between the pro and the AMOLED. The pro is on sale so does the AMOLED warrant a 300 price difference?

😂 what a shit comment, not everyone lives in Sunny Countries and have Sun shining every day. I do a lot of sport but do it indoor at the gym because weather in Uk is absolute crap🤦🏻♂️ I have Tactix 7 Standard which is great but I do miss my Amoled brightness from Apple Ultra so think I need to buy Tactix Amoled and try this then sell the other.
