chillon castle switzerland.
Chateau de Chillon Castle is one of the top tourist attractions in Switzerland.
In this video we have covered details like how to go to Chateau de Chillon Castle from Montreux and will share a little bit details about history of Chillon castle Switzerland .
We are covering best places in Switzerland using swiss travel pass journey. In this video we have also covered a short but exciting boat tour in lake Geneva from Chillon Castle to Montreux.
🏰Chateau de Chillon Castle Hindi :
It is most visited monument in Switzerland.
Its origin is unknown but Excavation carried in the 19th century indicates that the site has been occupied since the Bronze Age
The first written mention of Chillon Castle dates back to 1150 AD.
Castle was used a summer residence during early Savoy period, later converted as Prison, and was used mainly for military purpose for the remaining history.
📍Location :
Chillon Castle is an island castle located on Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), south of Veytaux in the canton of Vaud. It is situated at the eastern end of the lake, on the narrow shore between Montreux and Villeneuve.
How to get to Chateau de Chillon Castle:
From Geneva to Chateau de Chillon Castle: Take direct train from Geneva (or with change in Lausanne) to Montreux, which takes about 1 hour.
From Bern to Chateau de Chillon Castle: Take Bern with one change in Lausanne to Montreux, which takes about 1:40 hour.
From Interlaken to Chateau de Chillon Castle: Train from Interlaken West station with two changes (first in Spiez, second in Visp) which takes 2:15Hours. or take Golden Pass route : Interlaken West station with two changes (first in Spiez, second in Zweisimmen) which takes 3:36 Hours
From Montreux to Chateau de Chillon Castle:
🚌By Bus: Bus route 201, runs every 20 minutes, takes 15 minutes to reach in front of Chillon castle
🚋By Train: Train from Montreux to Veytaux-Chillon station, runs every hour, takes about 9 minutes (including 5 minutes walk from Veytaux-Chillon station to Chillon castle)
🚢By Ship/Boat: Take Boat from Montreux (lac) to Château-de-Chillon (lac), runs only 4 times in day during summer, takes 22 minutes.
We would definitely recommend boat Journey in Lake Geneva, in either lag of your journey, its beautiful and an experience itself.

those lockers at the castle are free to use? (if big locker is not available at the Mobtreux stn.)
Yeah it was free at that time.. Not sure if they changed any rule later on..
At what time you boarded the train from gare de station from paris to geneva
We boarded 6:15 AM train from Paris Gare de Lyon station

You can check in our previous video where we have kept all our luggage in one locker.. It will give you idea how much luggage can be accomodated
Would you suggest mid June, July or August for this itinerary? When can I see snow capped mountains from the cities/lakes as well?

Madam myself (75 years) and my wife(69) are going on a 13 days trip to Switzerland from India. We will reach Geneva on 2nd August and leave for Nice on 15th August.
We will be visiting Montreux/ Interlaken West/zermatt/Luzern. Can you please guide us how to go about what are the must places. In each town we will be staying for 3 days. The towns are in the order of our travel thru.

Am unable to see you geneva part. Is it yet to release as its not showing in playlist. Ie in front of fountain.
I have a few queries and need help
Golden pass panoramic in may will not get in the evening the way you traveled. Hence to maximise the tour
1. From geneva station to geneva lake fountain how long is the distance and how to go?
2. As our end destination would be to interlaken do you feel we must keep the luggage in geneva station and then to roam around lake geneva and then to montreux and castle - finally back to geneva to pickup the luggage to proceed for interlaken. Or you feel that we must keep the locker first in geneva and explore geneva and pick up the luggage and proceed to montreux and follow your itinerary except golden pass routes as train won’t function
So basic concern is luggage as we have child and old person
1. Geneva station to the lake shore is walking distance, about 5 minutes of walk.
There are plenty of lockers available at the station to store your luggage.
2. I wouldn't recommend coming back to Geneva from Montreaux just to collect luggage, as it will take a minimum of 2.5 to 3 hours more compared to directly going Interlaken from Montreaux.

Am wondering whether you canceled at the last minute to visit geneva as searched thoroughly but yet to get
@@samirdutta2536 as you can see in the 1st video of switzerland series ,we did not stopped at Geneva on first day.. Instead we visited it on last day, as our return train to paris was from Geneva. And there is nothing much to do in Geneva, apart from the geneva fountain and the area around lake geneva which is at walking distance from station..so we kept it for last day

So this ship is going from chilon castle to lusanne- right? I think it 1.5 hrs - do you feel its worth to go lusanne or we shall get down to montreux
