Love using a safety razor on my head. Even as a white person I have a bit of a time with ingrown hairs mostly on the back of my neck and the safety reasons razor has eliminated that problem for me.

No sweat. Safety razors are the best. I would highly Reccommend that you get a better razer ....muhle, Edwin jagger. $40. And up. I use a muhle 89r. Works great. Before the shave soap I would recommend coconut oil on your head. Adds additional slickness and it’s good for your skin anyways.

First, you've got a great beard! Thanks for the video, I just shaved my head for the first team at the barber (going bald lol) so now I'm about to finish the job at home with my safety razor. I was pretty worried about how I looked bald and couldn't give up the hair but once I did I reckon it looks better especially since I'm growing my beard.
Gotta give you props for doing that...I gave myself a safety razor for Christmas this year. Knowing I was gonna get to open it in a few days I watched your video and got all excited about using this thing on my head. Cut the shit outta myself. Gave it another go a few days later and same result. I guess I've gotten used to my Pro Fusion 5-blader and the fact that I don't end up bloody after a shaving, so I'm going back to that. I guess with practice and a more careful approach I could finally get used to the safety razor, but I'm just gonna go back to what's easy and works for me. But thanks for the video...

I use a Gillette safety razor from the 70's I found at my grandparent's, and all I use is water, no lathering at all, only nicked my head a handful of times, great video

Good shit. I use a safety for my head and straight for my face(lining my beard). You can get a better angle with the straight razor for the beard. Cool thing is they use the same razors.

yes saftey razor is much better then cartridge razor for sure and better for your skin and economically cheaper too.

Nice vid! That Van Der Hagen was my first safety razor too a few years ago & I haven't turned back. I've since bought a few different ones that are more aggressive depending on how much hair I have to cut. I use a straight razor for my beard though. I'll hit it with my liners then clean up with the straight. I've been trying to tell people how much more cost effective it is but they're hooked on the cartridges. Also, I'll typically use one blade a few times before I change it without any issues.

I shaved my head bald a few days ago bc of trich and documented it, i have a lot of videos on my channel about it. so freeing and liberating.
I usually use the double edge safety razor to line up my beard / shave face. Then I go with the grain with the safety razor... then I’ll switch to my cartridge razor and go against the grain... I find it a bit of a hassle to shave against the grain with the safety razor whereas with the bic hydro 3 the hair just comes off like a charm.
Tried safety razor on my head . but seems to takes me much longer than a cheap twin blade disposable razor. Keep up the great work!

Rodney Williams your good. Take your time and you will be fine. I have been doing it since 2004.
Don't forget to use Witch hazel afterwards.... No rubbing alcohol on your scalp, it creates razor burns 😎

Looks like you are using a $10.00 Weishi safety razor. Mildest razor on the market. You would almost have to take the blade out of the razor to cut yourself. Get yourself a Merkur long handle razor. Very mild as well and it makes a better grip/angle when shaving your head. You can more easily reach way back and have a more ergonomically pleasing grip on the razor.
Bro. Try feather blades. Super sharp, like mad sharp, but you'll get a closer and cleaner shave.

Depends on what’s more comfortable to you. I personally like the 5 blade because I get better angles and have more control. If you’re really prone to bumps I would try the safety razor since it’s less blades. With some tend skin and after shave you should be fine tho

Steven Wilson hey man I had to comment.. I started receding at 18 and started shaving about 20 I'm 29 now. Just do it bro there's a period you have to go through that sucks. Kills your confidence and just gotta get used to it visually. The sooner you do It the sooner your a bald guy and not the guy that just shaved his head. Bald is beautiful man and with the beard it's a statement. My girl says guys with hair and beards don't look right 😂 so I just shave every day, makes it easier and if your going to be bald keep it fresh. Then I focus on my beard line, health and growth. Keep the beard right it's there for the long haul!!! Big step man let me know how it turns out!

Steven You will feel awesome & clean afterwards. Try feather blades see if they work for you. Imho they are perfect. Keep it fresh if you like or be lazy like me and shave it with clippers every fortnight, then use the safety razor to make it smooth. No more wasting time & money getting haircuts & can line up the beard at home. Simple Living High Thinking.
I've actually been shaving my head for about 3 weeks and I love it. I shave Sundays and Wednesdays. I was using a safety razor but I'm thinking about switching to a razor that pivots cause I have trouble shaving the back of my head. But yea shaving makes life so much easier
