  • Dr. Max is the new Medical Director at the New Amsterdam hospital and begins his job by firing everyone in the cardiothoracic surgery department because they are more interested in billing than in healing.
From Season 1 Episode 1 "Pilot": Dr. Max Goodwin shakes up the status quo on his first day as a medical director of New Amsterdam, while simultaneously dealing with his own personal issues.
New Amsterdam (2017) SYNOPSIS: Dr. Max Goodwin is brilliant, charming -- and the new medical director at America's oldest public hospital. While he's set on tearing down the bureaucracy to provide exceptional care, the doctors and staff are not so sure. They've heard this before, and no one else has delivered on those promises. Not taking no for an answer, Max disrupts the status quo and proves he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital -- the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers Island and the president of the United States all under one roof -- and return it to the glory that put it on the map. Inspired by Bellevue in New York City.

still enjoyed the series, but i was expecting a diferent outcome

@@sarfarazsharief6291 exactly and in real life no medical director will fire a whole entire unit of the hospital. It is really crazy. But you know anything can happen in movies and series as it is not real life. Real life doesn't let you do a lot of things even if you want to.

Nah he wouldnt, i aint a doctor, but my first day at the place i work out now, my boss says, dont make waves.
I asked everyone who either refused to work weekends or didnt want to, along with holiday work like for xmas, XMAS day, 50% of my department put there hands up, all were fired then and there. Everyone else got a raise, worked a treat i got a smaller department to manage so i need less resorces, less money, less stress, less office drama, and a way more flexible team as a result...
