When we heard there was a self drive rally that adventured through 4 different African countries with the chances of seeing elephants, lion and giraffes at 100% - we were in!!
4 Countries, 2 Checkpoints, 3 Parties, over 3000km across Southern Africa in 19 days.
Any Car, Any Route!
Our choice of car - A 1971 VW beach buggy names Gorgeous George
Our choice of route South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and ending in Zambia.
This MAD self-drive adventure has been no other word than EPIC!
It has blown our expectations out of the water after just the first few days on the road.
The rally allows us to pass through multiple national game park in turn allowing us to self-drive our own safari tour. We have seen it all Zebras, Elephants, giraffes (ok apart from Lions.. but we kind of went the wrong way) and have witness some of the most breathtaking sunsets and scenery that exist on the planet.
Not only will this be a once in a lifetime challenge but the main reason behind taking part is to raise vital funds for children who are in need of school shoes but their families cannot afford them.
No child should be without shoes.
(We get to actually go and help the little fellas with picking shoes and trying them on so they have the right fit *cries*)
Not only will we get to experience first hand where your donations will be going but you will also as we plan on filming our Put Foot Rally journey from start to end in a 3 part series.
So join us as we make our way across Africa in a 'car' that should only be driving us to the beach.
Will it make it? You'll have to watch to find out....

Watching from my home in Cape Town. Gorgeous George will 100% make it. My granddad used to do that same trip in a vw bug when he was a youngster, so if a beetle can do it in the 60’s I’m 100% sure you guys can do it.

Ok that anxiety thing hit hard! I literally knew everything you were feeling on a granular level. That shit sucks. However, having a partner that understands and can talk you down has saved me on many occasions. Thanks for sharing all that, it was incredibly relatable ❤

Herbie (The Love Bug) has nothing on little ole George! Since painting the blue, green, he looks like a frog for sure. He has to be the smallest Dune Buggy I've seen. Loved the comment from, what, the toll lady? "Either that is too small for ya or you are too big for it" (something like that). Leave it to you two for such a wacky adventure. The party at the end had your names all over it!
Guys!!! This is EPIC! We drove these roads last year with Crusoe when he was 8 months old and it was our favourite adventure EVER. We did however, have a very smart Toyota Hilux with allllll the gear. George is a legend, but no doubt he’s pushing your limits and the fact that you’re still smiling is incredible. Not sure your aware but its such a beautiful coincidence!! There is the amazing Welsh charity called 2 wish (supporting suddenly bereaved parents & siblings who lose children based in Llantrisant) their mascot is an elephant called gorgeous George (as elephants never forget) so this is wonderful in so many ways!! We are supported by 2 wish for our son Hunter who died, we met you on your Welsh walk! and we love you guys in general! So the kids are jumping at the name!! xx
Thank you for keeping it real showing what anxiety really looks like even though it would be easy to edit out. I personally struggle with anxiety too, and it helps to see someone else doing what they love (traveling) despite having it. Loved the video!!

Any I know you probably won't see this. However, as someone who suffers from anxiety also, there is one thing I don't ever see you do. Have you heard of butterfly tapping. It is when you tap yourself until you calm a bit. It really helps me. Love you guys btw!!

Amy you are the best. When my anxiety kicks in the panic attacks come soon after. I love how you don't let it effect you traveling, I can't stand being around a lot of people or loud noises anymore. You and Craig are engaged and we are so happy, so whenever you have to take off your ring it's ok you owe us no explanations anyway anyone in their right mind would not travel the way that ya'll are with expensive jewelry on or jewelry that has sentimental value, I ty could get lost or stolen. Tip lock tight for bolts permanently and removable different colors and lock washers for off roading or bumpy stuff with bolts. It makes a big difference.
