Canadian football has a different set of rules compared to American Football; inaddition, they have something in Australia, something in between Rugby and American-Football down-under called (FOOTIE). For a short stay and one game, I could not pick up the game's rules, but it did look exciting and interesting.

+Ethan Bruce well if you're from America it doesn't make much sense to call it American Football since we also have soccer. Probably should have found a better system but hey that's just how it is don't understand why people can get so upset. Since other countries don't have American Football they call what we call "soccer" football. See what I mean? If you have both sports in your country you need a way to distinguish them. It would be really confusing if you called both sports football.

But they do have more or less the same niche. Baseball and Cricket are both laid back rural bat and ball games, but baseball is a bit more like rounders. Rugby (union and league) and American handegg are more or less stop and go tackling warfare simulators. And American handegg does comes from Rugby, is a historical fact. And both games are tied with their origin nation colleges and mlitary. American handegg fills the same social niche Rugby did had during the British Empire. A get tough game for the Empire.

Football has pads so there's more confidence in your physical ability and if you don't believe me you haven't played it. I'm American and absolutely go crazy over American football (like most Americans do), but this video cracked me up to no end. Always interesting to hear an "outsider" perspective on this silly little game that we love so dear. And quite frankly, you guys were dead on in a lot of your initial observations (the blacks usually play the skill positions, while whites often are the big guys who do the rough ploughing).
Let's be honest, blacks are just naturally much more gifted athletically than us whiteys so you want them running and catching the ball. Even as a white guy, when my team had a white receiver, I'm often like "what the hell are we doing?!?!" :)
And that #6 is Jay Cutler, who is widely regarded as the most miserable bastard in the NFL. So you guys noticed it too. Haha
    Cheers on a great video!

I strongly dislike the arrogance some people show towards this topic. Rugby is a good sport, Im from America I never have played it but i respect it. why can't they do the same. its two different sports. and as far as the part of its so protective, well thats cuz they use their heads.. Rugby is taught to not lead head first. the NFL has proven concussion issues. more than rugby unless they are just ignorant to the fact that they can lead to literal retardation later in life, but that is another topic. If you went to a football practice, and a rugby practice, you would say immediately that they are two DIFFERENT SPORTS. end of discussion! respect them both. Because there are a TON of football players who could play rugby, and VICE VERSA.

I can relate to this video. In 1985, The Bears played the Patriots. I was at friends house for the game with my three daughters. Liz's parents are Scottish and this was their first experience with American football. Well, for any of you that remember this game, the Patriots got there butts kicked. By half-time, Sam was asleep, Liz was in the kitchen, Liz's mother was reading a story to my 3 girls and Liz and Sam's two boys. Liz's dad and I were the only two still watching the game. Now, you have to imagine this next line from Liz's dad in a heavy Scottish brogue. He looks at me and says "So, this is your exciting American football?"

You had to show them a bears v lions game though? I mean I know it's s thanksgiving game but still cmon. At least show them an old matchup of Pittsburgh Steelers v Baltimore Ravens or Giants v Eagles. Anything other than the lions

they were showing a Thanksgiving game cause it was Thanksgiving. They could have shown them the Cowboys - Eagles game or the 49ers - Seahawks game.

+jam714 Hahaha that was hilariously ignorant. Man if you made that comment about England, Germany, Holland or most European countries you'd be correct, but Ireland actually specialises in three sports countless times more brutal than your American Handegg, namely Rugby, Hurling and Gaelic Football, the real football, brutal sports in which the players aren't so weak as to need full body armour to protect them from a little tackle. I'd say that compared to these that American Football is a girls sport, but seeing as our all - female sport Camogie is still 100x more badass than Handegg, I'd be insulting the women. Go back to checking out men in tights while we play real sports.
