how about a comparison between old G9 and G9ii

Wow there's significantly less artifacting in the sky on the G9ii, that surprises me. There were a few examples where it maintained highlight information a bit better too but overall that was mostly comparable. I'd love to see a dynamic range comparison between both cameras at low ISO where the G9ii will have Boost enabled and GH6 won't.

useful video, what have you found to be the best profile and setting for lowlight on the G9 ii? Have you tested V-Log in low light against other profiles?

can you test for CMOS smearing at high ISO against light source with dark background?

GH6 seems to be exposed brighter. What is really noticeable is the the G9II seems more oversharpened and digital looking. Seems to be the case for all new PDAF sensons lumix is using. I think for video GH6 and S1H are still the best lumix cameras.

My take is that if you dropped the gamma a bit on the GH6 footage, it would bring more info into the mid and lower highlights. And both would look even more similar. I'm surely not seeing any difference that would make me choose one over the other. Thanks!

the reduction of the base ISO is seen in the G9II retaining more highlights, otherwise not a big difference in video at high ISO where DR boost is on for both. it's under 2000 where the difference is larger.

The G9ii does not have a user selectable DR Boost.

M43 sensors have come a long way, these ISO performances are better than the best full frame dslr's from years back. The m43 future is bright, literally.

Did the GH6 use DR Boost in your test?

      No!

@@tecniralph Now that's interesting because the G9ii uses DR Boost at every ISO at up to 60fps without the user needing to manually activate DR Boost.

This proves for low light or night video you need a F1.7 lens and not go beyond iso 6400 for good dynamic range. But the G9II better performance
