    I've had mine for little over a year now and yes, the fence can be very persnickety. I've adjusted to it so it hasn't been a huge issue for me. Other than that, I love it, especially for the price, as you said. I spent a little extra on a good gauge to help keep things aligned. Always a good idea for any table saw, but maybe more so with this one. Keeps me happy with the saw.

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 3 lety +1

      Ya definitely. You gotta fight with the saw a little bit sometimes to get it right, but it gets the job done

    Thanks for the update. It appears that the fence is probably the main issue for this saw. I’m in between this saw and the delta. The Delta appears to have a better fence.

    Totally agree with this video. Just moved across the country and had the good pleasure of putting this thing back together again. The fence is just terrible for all the reasons you said, and the two point fence makes it hard to have a good out feed table if you use a cross cut sled. And yes, the wings are terrible too. I will be selling this in the future.

  • @824rmrock
    @824rmrock Před 2 lety +1

    All the issues you mentioned are easily adjustable. I check mine about every two months and usually holds square and parallel.

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 2 lety

      That's correct. The saw really works great. You are correct. There are no deal breaker issues with it. Just some annoyances.

  • @christarmey6398

    Thanks for the video. I actually have this saw and definitely agree with your opinion, the fence is not good. I only started watching these videos after I already had this saw unfortunately. I am a DIY so its fine for me but I probably would not buy it again. I only went down this rabbit hole now to find a better blade, which you did mention so thank you!

    I have the same saw. First thing I did was wire it for 220 volt, second thing I did was through the fence out and replaced with different one. It wasn’t for the saw but I only had to drill 1 or 2 hole to make it work. The only other problem I had was the switch burnt out on it. It was $30 to charge it out to a better one.

    I bought a Delta nine months ago such as the one in the photograph. Now I'm looking for another table saw. The Delta's motor gave it up. Trying to find Delta customer support/service has been disappointing. If you prefer the Delta over the Rigid, I guess I'll pass on the Rigid. Thanks for the informative video.

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 3 lety

      Ya you are the second person who told me the delta motor has failed. sorry to hear about that

  • @kaden7298
    @kaden7298 Před 2 lety +1

    I was having problems with the torque on cutting. I thought it was the motor at 1st so I upgraded it to 220. But the problem is not the motor. It’s the fence off throwing the wood off and cause pressure on blade. I keep on having to adjust the fence it get to the point of annoying that I have to constantly double check my tape front and back. I have all same issues.

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 2 lety

      Sorry to hear that! I have learned a little trick to stop the problems with the double point fence. Pull back towards you before pressing the fence handle down, and it will really help with the angle consistency.

  • @mannyforvid
    @mannyforvid Před 3 lety

    Thanks for the honest review brother! After 20 yrs, I'm finally ready to upgrade to a better tablesaw, the fence on the one I have right now, sucks so bad, the eyeball method is more accurate. I was seriously considering the Rigid, but after the stuff you pointed out, I just might go with the Delta, just for the fence.

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 3 lety +2

    I believe on the Delta Table Saw #36-725, the T-Fence has a steel back rail that the fence clamps onto as well as the clamp on the front.

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 3 lety

      Hmm.. usually the beisemeyer fence style just rests onto the back fence and referrences its square off of the front. but if that one is different then thats news to me!

    • @charlesbeasley9317
      @charlesbeasley9317 Před 3 lety

      The display delta i just looked at appeared to have a standard style t-square fence that only referenced in the front rail.
      The backside support rail is there to support and align the extension wings.

    • @charlesbeasley9317
      @charlesbeasley9317 Před 3 lety

    I'll be checking out this saw personally in the store when we are allowed to travel again after this coronavirus pandemic... I like its size, table and weight. But, if I'll be having to fix this typical flaws... maybe I would be fine just buying one like the Makita MLT100 which has essentially all the flaws but can be fixed, for half the price. What do you think? :)

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks

    @leonardorojas1781 Před 4 lety +1

    Hi friend. Looks like this saw has the same typical flaws of all saws in this price range. But I would have liked to see more about the fence. How is it bad that the fence has 2 securing points? I think it's ideal that the fence be locked from behind and front. Maybe you meant that the locking mechanism doesn't work?

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 3 lety

      No sir. if it used the front and back to lock into place then that means it can be skewed slightly by the friction of the back lock. If you see a beisemeyer style fence thats on all the top of the line saws, it is only a single point fence. that two point fence is literally an inferior design... at least the way Rigid has done it.

  • @enzprintco.8625
    @enzprintco.8625 Před 3 lety +1

    I plan on building my own Kitchen Cabinets from 3/4" ply. I found a great deal of this saw. You reccon this is accurate enough? I was going to invest in a Delta Saw but hear complains that the cast table top is not level and dips which is not good for dado cuts. The Delta also has a very short arbor like a european saws were Dado blades are illegal.

    • @MaydaysCustomWoodworks
      @MaydaysCustomWoodworks  Před 3 lety

      oh wow! well then i might have to reconsider my recommendation for the delta. The only real problem with this saw is the fence. if you replace the fence system it will work like a champ. but yes sir. i've been building cabinets with this saw for years now and it does the job well enough.

    Do you know how to adjust the fence? The four bolts that starch the fence and the one in the back to tighten the rear clamp I got, but the 2 white plastic things that take the play out of the front slider can’t actually be adjusted.
