- My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.

Cruz being safe and comfy in AC, is all I care about seeing right now. I hope you don't go anywhere until the AC is fixed. Once that works, go anywhere you feel Cruz will like best. I think most of us care more about him than any dust or dirt you have to deal with.

Early spring maintenance checklist; thoroughly checked all seals on the doors on the van and the floor before summer ever gets here. Replace it if needed. 😊

Yes, the year you and Emi traveled East and stopped to check out all the little towns and 'ghost' areas was super fun.
You can test your weatherstripping with a strip of paper. Shut it in the door and drag it around and you'll get a feel for the seal by the drag or lack of.
Keep your rubber seals cleaned and treated so they don't dry out and will create a better seal. You can buy products to treat them at Walmart. You can do it when you wash your van after coming out of the bush. Well worth the effort! Take it from someone who lives in dry Arizona!

You might consider sealing the Dog House where it meets the floor for sound, heat and dust.

I always wipe vaseline or similar on the rubber to keep it flexible and durable.
In the winter, helps repel water to prevent freezing.
Avoiding the summer dusty season is no problem, dust is not fun..... especially if it always gets into your house.
Once your air conditioning is working try running your fans with windows closed to create positive air.
Run your max air fan so it blows the cleaner air at roof level into the van. Also if you borrow a disco smoke machine, set it in the van and blow air in you will see where the smoke leaks out, these are your dust entry holes.
I'm surprised he didn't turn the fan on to simulate he AC being on.

YUP! Positive air pressure inside the van will reduce the dust infiltration.
Also check and seal around the doghouse. There was entry through there as well when you were driving. (Rewatched that video. )

I don't enjoy back country unless it's educational somehow, I want a close-up and personal look a plants,flowers, trees, lichens, rocks, drift wood, waterfall, shore lines and wild life, etc...I'm not so much into the driving about. I hope you solved your problems. 😊 ❤

When you're not traveling, you can buy a sofa bed and sleep at the shop,figure out what's really the problem, and then you can start traveling and sleep in your van.
You can test seals! Just use a long piece of ribbon. Shut the door on it and pull. There should be a resistance. 1 inch Christmas ribbon works great. Where the leak is, it will slide easily.

Maybe apply some silicone grease from time to time to those seals,it will keep them supple and seal better

I see you teaching many of us problem solving, physics of repairs, why and how to do your repairs and maintenance. You travel wherever the roads lead, meeting with friends, building a business. I like it all.
My small opinion but I loved the little towns and events you took us along to. The important thing is that you are happy.

Chrome every now and then condition the rubber seals it helps them last longer
Might sound silly but, wide blue painters tape would be able to seal the back and side doors quite well from dust and take 5 minutes to apply and remove. Not permanent but, it would suffice.

I'm from Maine and if it were me?, I'd keep it on the pavement in the summer! I know all too well how that dust will ruin your day fast!! Rubber side down and keep er between the ditches🤙🤙

For those of us who don't live in Canada, it would be cool for you to show us the touristy towns. I live in the backcountry here in Georgia and it looks a lot like what I see on your channel (except for snow).

Ask around to body and glass shopsthey make tool that can pinpoint the leaks takes a little patience to use but well worth the time invested

You are speaking to my heart. I’ve never been able to stay put. I’ve rented I’ve owned and after a little bit I’m sick of being there. When I rent normally I’m gone when my lease is up. I find being in the beaten path to be so re-generating. So glad I made the decision one year ago July 15 to at 60 years young to give up my apartment move into my Equinox for a month then buy my van. Now my home goes where ever I want. Love your channel keep being real.

Hey chrome those seals need a lubricant spray. Allows the seal to soften and reseal the doors.

Easy use your van to get you to the dirt road then take a quad down the dirt road then you come back to a clean van, also if you break things on a quad it’s a 1/3 the price to fix vs the van!

Check you vent on top of you dash...... usually that's where dust come
When you got the new wheels and tires I asked if you installed new wheel well liners. Have you? Check that rear passenger side well.

I hatedTexas, too hot for me. Finally decided to stay indoors in summer, garden, camp, travel in spring, fall, winter. It worked!
Chrome you do what you like… we will follow you! Your van adventures keep us tuning in whether it’s dirt roads or mud bogs or pavement
Hope it works. We replaced all our seals and still get leaks around the back door. 🤠. Can also pull a foam or rubber insert thru the seal for a little extra seal
Keep the interior pressurized with windows closed and fan on high. Get your A/C charged and run it, that might help keep the dust out. Even on cooler days keep the windows up on dusty roads. Driving with windows down and the equal pressure allows the dust to kick up and enter your interior space through every crack and crevice.
