In addition to all of these, always put the e-brake or manual brake on/up before putting your car in park when parking on an angle (decline/incline). This will help the overall life of your pin to hold the transmission in place during park & the overall life of the transmission itself. This isn't a problem for manual transmissions, only automatics, and is something very few people know as a very helpful hint/trick.

No, rain won't get through the gaskets and seals. Never pressure wash mechanical parts with oil in them. Oil and water don't mix, but they interact in a way that when heated and mixed by spinning gears, they foam up into bubbles, dropping your oil pressure and causing your car to not lubricate itself properly, leading to metal shavings from metel-metal contact, which, even after you replace the oil, will still slowly eat away at your transmission.

  • @theRealRKI

You should never press the clutch in a manual or coast in neutral if you go downhill. You don't get the engine-braking effect, in a manual either downshift and ease off the gas, or if you sit in an automatic car, just leave your foot off the pedals and maybe use CC to keep your speed without braking. The automatic Transmission will perform downshifts to slow the car down.
Riding the brake pedal will let your brakes run hot and they start to smear, which will affect your ability to slow the car down. This also causes the brakes to chime after cooling down again. If that's the case, perform multiple hard stops from higher speeds to rub off the hard rubber (from the cooling process) on the brake.
You can always change from Neutral to Drive in an automatic, in case you need to get towed after an accident.
"Never launch your car while in neutral" - What the hell man? If you intend to launch it from a standstill, just press brake and gas at the same time, nobody revs up and switches to drive...
Pressing Gas and Brake at the same time causes the clutch (in a dual/single clutch car) to slip or the torque converter to build up pressure, let off the brake and you accelerate with full power.

I just want to say that I've seen a lot of people saying that they are annoyed by the people who shut their engines at red lights and calling them stupid. They don't stop the engine , newer vehicles automatically stop the engine to save fuel and to also reduce CO2 emissions. This is called start-stop and it has been implemented in a lot of older cars like the 2011 Audi Q7 so this technology has been used in cars for almost a decade or maybe more so I don't see how people don't know about this already and how they can talk about something they don't really know.

Water should not get into your engine in general, not just the transmission. Granted if you get a few drops into the combustion chamber it likely will burn off, but you really don't want water in your engine anyway (unless it's engine coolant which is usually a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water). My general rule of thumb is that if the water comes up beyond the wheel hubs on my vehicle, I won't drive through it (I have a truck though so the engine does sit a few inches above the wheel hub level but still, many mfrs use this as a rule for determine if you should drive through standing water or not).
