    I have owned a 2007 3.2CDI for 12 years and it is the best looking car I have ever driven. It goes like stink and gives me 48mpg if I drive like a vicar! The Gen2 cars look awkward and the performance differential is marginal and you really should not be driving a car like this at its top performance on public roads. It is an indictment of the Gen 2 cars that the Gen 3 cars seem to have been designed on the Gen 1 - back to the future! If I ever sell my car that is the one I will go for, but not yet - not yet!!

    My father owned a 2007 377bhp 500 model for a while. it was great in a straight line but not so hot in the corners due to it's mass and air suspension. Unfortunately it wasn't a reliable car, it left us stranded 60 miles from home on one occasion and it also had issues with the air suspension, window regulators and it also had rust on the body and on brake pipes. it was 5 years old at the time...

    Just a word to those that are saying the C219 phase 1 is better than the phase 2. I dont believe you know your Mercs.
    Have you even driven and compared them?
    They are miles apart. I had a phase 1 2006 and traded it for a 2010 and the difference in power, handling and looks were amazing. I now have a 2014 C218 CLS 550 which is another level again but for looks I would still pick my old 2010 phase 2👍🏻

    • @phil955i
      @phil955i Před 6 měsíci +3

      Looks are subjective; I looked at the gen 2 & didn't like the interior & exterior, so plumped for a low mileage gen 1. But yeah I agree the driving dynamics will be better with a gen 2.

      @@mikimoto99 you appear to be quite ignorant on the subject of Mercedes Benz engines. The M113 5.0 used in the 500 is legendary for being just about the most bulletproof V8 they made. The following M273 5.5 they used in the 550 had numerous well documented problems, chiefly the timing chain. The only thing the M273 improved on was power output.
