I'm a new subscriber, I've just discovered your channel today, have watched 3 of your videos and I love how holistically informative and eloquent you are in your videos, like, you really look at all sides of things before speaking about them. Now I know why, and it's because you've lived in different parts of the world and I find that really interesting. I thought, wow, you are Miss Worldwide (in my mind, I'm saying that in Pitbull's voice haha). It's really nice and eye-opening to hear the thoughts of people like you who have a wider perspective on the world because you've been to a lot of places. I'm glad I came across your channel and will be following your contents from now! Love and appreciation from the Philippines 😊

The eating part, yes, so true lol :). It sounds pretty basic, but I love the weather (yes, the weather!) and how spacious it is. The air is super fresh and it's such a treat to take walks in the park or near the lake.
I'd say, I can imagine having Canada as my new home long-term because people here come from all around the world. It makes it easy to imagine myself as a Canadian. It's difficult to say what I love most, actually your question made me think. Will contemplate and talk more about it in one of my future videos.

To me, Toronto has a long way to go vs. most of (western) European cities in term of urbanism and quality of life (and this includes affordability and "value for money"). I am not planning on making my life here and maybe going back to Europe (maybe south of france) or actually asia... We will see... Hi... This video is very special ❤ It's interesting why your parents decided to move back to Indonesia. Also was curious about whether you have a German passport and why not to live in Germany, but have found the answers in the comments. One thing i'd say is that in Europe the society, the nations are homogeneous. Like a nation-state countries. Of course, it doesn't mean you cannot live there, especially considering your native German! But still might be a factor for a person thinking of emigrating there. Where as Canada and the US are more like nations-corporations. They are ready to absorb different people not thinking they are losing something.
And it's so unfair that you, being a German (some strings attached😊), do not have German documents.
I watched some of your videos like half a year ago, when I was living in Montenegro (im not Montenegrin:)), and now its been a month since I'm here! But i'm in Vancouver area. Came here alone.

Everyone is mad at our leader, but then again, which country since the pandemic not a dictatorship isn't mad at its leadership. Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

This was interesting to learn about you. I do have some questions now,
Have you ever mixed up your languages when you speak since you know English, German & Bahasa Indonesia?
What language do you think in?
Without asking your age of course, do you remember the Boxing Day Tsunami in Indonesia in 2004?

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  Před rokem +2

Those are really good questions! I thought about it once, and it's kind of a mixed situation. It seems like one or another language lights up and becomes more active when thinking about certain topics/emotions. And yes, I do mix up languages sometimes! An excellent question to answer in more depth in one of the next specials!
That year I was already in Germany, so I was not in Indonesia. Thanks for the questions!

"What language do you think in?" An excellent question?
Having learnt Spanish and Arabic (English mother tongue) as a long term traveler, I recall some advice. It was to tell oneself a story in the language you're trying to learn as you sleep off.
Young children were unknowingly amongst my best teachers.
I experienced Malayalam of Kerala, India too challenging. Others have mastered it.
I lived 8 years in B.C., up on the islands. Justifiably called Beautiful B.C.
Sharing your method of linguistic acquisition would be instructive?

Currently we live in Germany, and neither me (Slavic) or wife (Taiwanese) feel good here. Main reason is German language and lack of socializing. I often think to move again, either back home, to Taiwan or to Canada/UK. Income and cost do not matter that much, cause I work remote as software developer and do stock investing too.
