The affordable Bovet 19Thirty Fleurier is examined in detail. From the workshops of Bovet, a watch company that defines refined elegance, this video looks at a steel version yet with all of the case, dial and movement creation for which Bovet is so famous. WatchArtSci covers the general topics of high horology watches, watch movements, purchasing watches, judging the value of a watch and its movements and understanding the history of different watches and watch brands that collectors cherish. - Jak na to + styl
The Bovet Fleurier is my grail I love that it is a wrist watch, pocket watch and table clock 🕰️ and it is so elegant and beautiful!
The Fleurier version is very different and surprisingly comfortable, Nathan, with the bow and crown lug system. Take care, Bill
What a gorgeous watch. i love that it just has it's own thing going on & so beautiful
Thank you Al! It's an unusual watch, but very comfortable, and for an Exceptional Horology watch, relatively inexpensive on the 'gray' market. It also folds nicely so that I can sit it on my desktop. Kindest regards, Bill
Great vid, Bill. Love when you get specific about a piece. Also, you got me thinking about Bovet.... ;) (BTW, nice color matching with tie and dial.)
Hey Tim!! Great to hear from a fellow FPJer! Yes, Bovet, is not your Holy Trinity, Diver, Driver, Flyer, everyday watch! It's a watch with a history and if you get a chance drop by the Bovet boutique in NYC (it's on the corner of 6th Ave and Central Park). The only problem is that other than the steel 19Thirty models, the other ones are fairly pricey. The Sportsters should probably be avoided...for the time-being. I found that Bovet sits up nicely on my desk with the strap; so now my other watches get some wrist tie. When my FP Journe Le Chronomètre Souverain comes back from service there'll be a lot of lonely watches for a while.... Kindest regards, Bill
Great looking art piece. Best looking watch I ever seen. Lookin extra nice on a gentleman like you.
Thanks, man! Derek, what surprises me most is how comfortable it is. With that bow & crown lug, it would seem a bit awkward, but it's not. On top of that, it sits up nicely on my desk. Kindest regards, Bill
What a beautiful piece Bill!
Another great example of how high horology time pieces can be acquired without necessarily breaking the bank.
I had a chance to play with some Bovets last year and got really impressed with the quality of their watches mainly on the movement side.
Certainly a reflection of focus on quality Fleurier watchmakers put into their work.
Also enjoyed the depthless of your analysis while showing detailed diagrams, high res pics, etc.
Speaking about Bovet I would like to suggest an essay about Edouard Bovet.
No one can do it better than you my friend!
Best,
Amintas, since you're the guy who speaks a dozen languages, here's what's we'll do. You put a Bovet on your watch radar...and eventually your wrist..., and you and I will do the Edouard Bovet essay together and ask Jaber to do the artwork! Kindest regards, bill
Hey Bill, sounds like a good plan!! Let's chat more about it soon. Best
I finally got to see these watches in person. Wow they are stunning. Hopefully I''ll add one to the collection one day.
Yes, Richard, they're beautiful in person. They're well worth it ... but steer clear of their Sports models...not their movements I don't believe. The 19Thirty is a great watch with a movement especially built for the watch. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci The19Thirty is certainly a thing of beauty
I adore this watch. I have watched your videos hundreds of times, and I've never heard you mention your wrist size. The Fleurier seems to fit your wrist nicely. Knowing your wrist size would help me choose between the Fleurier and Dimier. The Dimier being better for a slightly smaller wrist I think. Dimier's are harder to find, and if we have a similar wrist size, I'm all in on the Fleurier! Thanks, Bill.
Matthew, I have about a 7.5 inch wrist. The thing about a 19Thirty is the bow and crown, and for me that makes the watch distinctive. I was going to get the Dimier, but a friend talked me into the Fleurier, and I'm glad he did. Take care and be safe, Bill😷
I especially like how you analyse and study a single watch. This one is beautiful.
Hey Erik!! Thanks man!! I think I'll do that with more watches. What would you suggest would be a good one to study next? Kindest regards, bill
WatchArtSci I would love to learn more about the Habring manufactoring and their 2 movement types (inhouse and not). One never reads or hears anything about them, and as you own one of their fantastic timepieces! I think you're perfectly placed to do that

You know Erik, that is a good idea. A long time ago, I did a video on Habring2 (czcams.com/video/dyexj8fMWXk/video.html) but maybe it's time for a focus on how they make their movements. That idea goes into the queue! Kindest regards, Bill
WatchArtSci Ulysse Nardin also has an interesting history, and watches of course
Just saw your unboxing of the bovet in another video, i thought the box it came in looked pretty awesome
Hiya Wootwootxful!! Glad you liked the box! It is a nice one. Kindest regards, Bill
Hi Bill, that Fleurier looks amazing! I actually was first drawn to the Dimier layout, which, with the main dial on the right, kinda reminds me of a lange 1 daymatic. But the top/bottom layout of the fleurier is wonderful as well. I'd like to try one on; it doesn't look big even at 42mm. It's pretty steep brand new, but a lot more attainable on the second hand market, right?
Gilberto, it's one of those watches that dropped pretty much in the asking price. Of the two models, Dimier and Fleurier, I too was first attracted to the Dimier, but now I am so glad I got the Fleurier. The Bow & Crown on top and the Bar lug on the bottom are so comfortable you don't even know you have them on. Cheers, Bill
Nice review, beautiful watch! I just looked up the Bovet Pininfarina Sportster I got to say I actually like it except for the price.
Those look like acorn nuts you can use a tool set for a smartwatch bought at a Best Buy to remove those. Cover the watch in painters tape to protect it from scratches and use a socket that has no play (wiggle) to avoid deforming the nuts.
Marc8 Thank you!! What a great idea!! As I write I have some Frog tape in the garage awaiting an assignment!! I'll head to Best Buy (and Amazon) to see if I can find the smartwatch tools. You are right; Bovets are a bit pricy, but their prices drop pretty good on pre-owned. That's the time to pounce!! Kindest regards, Bill
Marvelous video.was barely aware Bovet existed.I thought your visual and mechanical analysis was A++++.Just technical enough. Thanks for another great video.Btw did you consciously or unconsciously leave out the price of the strap?.
Galja thanks man! Bovet is a great example of exceptional horology. The gator strap is $400
WatchArtSci I could buy one in the pet store for less !
Bill,
Your WatchArtSci is really a great contribution for all watch lovers, I just wonder do you have any idea Bovet Sportster triple calendar automatic movement is actually based on which manufacturer's model. Thanks for your help
Hi Benny, thanks man! I think that the Sportster line is based on Valjoux 7750 (see www.ablogtowatch.com/bovet-sportster-saguaro-watches-hands-on/ ). In most Bovet ads, they go into great detail about their movements being developed in-house by Dimier 1738 (Bovet's movement development and production arm.) However, you don't see that with their Sportster line. My 19Thirty has the Bovet caliber 15BM04 (BM= Bovet Manufacture) while the Sportster has caliber 13BA01 (BA = Bovet Adapted?) Some of the women's watches also have the "BA" in their calibre, while all of the 19Thirty, Complications and Grand Complications all have "BM." I'm just speculating about the exact meaning of "BA" but I've been able to get images of the 'BM' movements in great detail; while not so much for the "BA." Kindest regards, Bill
Hi Bill, is the crown easy to grip to wind the watch?
Hi Bill sir as I've said before I'm not a high end watch guy but this Bovet is a different thing altogether, I think it's a stunner it just drew me right in beautiful absolutely beautiful front and back. I really like the bow and the whole thing, this is a piece well worth lusting after. Always wear in good health sir.👍 see you sunday.
Hey Paul!! Great to hear from you. Isn't that Bovet 19Thirty interesting? I bet in a few years their price will drop significantly, and they'll be within reach! That's the nice thing about certain great watches that are not popular--you can get high horology at bargain prices. See you Sunday! Kindest regards, Bill
WatchArtSci Thanks sir. I love to hear you talk about your own watches the love and passion isn't hidden.sunday my friend 👍
A great review to say the least. I own a dimmier with white enamelled dials. The only problem I have faced is that the case gets scratched very easily and there is no way to get them off. Any suggestions?
Hi Rehan, thanks man! I saw your watch (white with dimmer style). It is beautiful! If you're talking about removing scratches from the stainless steel case, you can find lots of steel scratch removers, and I have NOT tried any of them. I do use a stainless steel polishing cloth, mainly for cleaning, but you have to be very careful with scratch removers. Some contain diamond dust, which is fine for scratch removal, but if you accidentally rub part of your glass (crystal) you can scratch it. Currently I use Cape Cod Polishing cloths, and they work fine on stainless steel; cases and bracelets. Kindest regards, Bill
Thanks a lot buddy. Will try.
If you use something to remove scratches, leave a comment here and tell us how it worked out. Cheers, Bill
Love you're watch mate ! Great vid ! Grtz.
Thanks Tommeken 3000! When I'm not wearing my 19Thirty, I use it as a desktop watch just so that I can look at it...all day...long! Kindest regards, Bill
Hi Bill, sorry 4 my late response, that's actually GREAT you are using it also as a desktop model. I really really love this model and watch , i am also a little bit jalous ;) nice watch really !!! Hey Bill i have a question 4 you.. i want to buy a new watch between 500 - 1000 euro. Wich brand do you recommend for a good quality watch ? Thanx 4 youre channel ! I learn a lot ! Grtz Tom.
Hey Tommeken, let me give you an honest answer: there are none...new. About exactly half of my collection, I bought used. 500-1000 Euro is a lot of money; I don't care what anyone thinks. If you buy used, you can find excellent watches in that price range. I have a Zenith Elite GMT that I bought for under €1,000 and it's a fantastic watch. I bought a new band for it, and it looks smashing. Had I bought one new, I'd probably be too embarrassed to wear it in public or at least among other watch enthusiasts. So, don't waste your money on cheap new watches; buy pre-owned. Here's the video about my Zenith. czcams.com/video/FLDkh9uKhsE/video.html Kindest regards, Bill
Hi Bill, thanks for being honest! Ad witch price point i have a (New) (Entry) good quality watch ? And also which brand ? Thx 4 helping me Bill.
If you want to get a new watch with an in-house movement I would choose a Nomos Tangente Gangreserve for €2341 bought directly from Nomos.. Kindest regards, Bill
Do you notice that the movement is in the shape of an ace?
I didn't notice that James! Thanks for pointing it out. That's sort of cool. Cheers, Bill
WatchArtSci very cool
i think your channel will flourish once you have a decent camera and really show us the watches in detail and not a webcam kind of style. as watch lovers we all want to see the watch itself in detail
Hi Holytiger, if my channel flourishes, I won't have enough time to chat with everyone! Can you recommend a good camera? Thanks, Bill
