- It's getting cold on the canals! We make it to the South Oxford canal but have to stop in the middle of nowhere as it's getting dark! Next morning we wake up to a frozen canal!...but we have to move, so through the ice we go!

Not sure what your on about ,most comments I see are all good ,great and amazing, mabey your one of these sensitive Liberals. If you put your self on the Internet surley you must expect some nut jobs and in a world HA HA hA of freedom of speech, expect anything, no one is hurt just feelings and Ben and Emily seem more that capable of dealing with stupid comments.,they know most love what they do so if negative there one percent losers.

Winter is harsh on the canals . and always has been .
I was born and bought up on a narrow boat I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it.. the sense of freedom that you get is a bonus no matter the weather my bring..
Unfortunately I had to leave narrow boat life after sixty seven years . mainly because of health issues.
I still have friends that are living on the canals . one of who's boat you passed in this video..
I would like to thank you both for taking the time to put your videos out. As they bring back fond memories of my life living on the canals of this country.

Unfortunately there are a number of people on the canals that think they can take people's property . without asking for permission to take it.
This seems to be the trend these days especially with people who walk along the towpaths. Near towns and cities...

I love the way you live on and use your narrow boats all year round whether high heat or cold winters.
Tow the small boat , put a line on each corner of main boat , put the two lines together on bow of small boat .

Country House Gent recently had the same issue of a hidden ledge under the side of the boat on the Oxford Canal. Minimal damage inside. Yours could have been nasty had a pan of stew been on the stove that day. Really good production, thank you.
Our boat is moored at Dunchurch, just a bit further along the canal, and I've used the locks there many times (they're the busiest on the network) and never noticed anything there. It probably ought to be reported to the CRT as those locks are manned on a regular basis.
Oh No! so you got a mooring! no more cruising, no more beautiful countryside. I can understand but feels like the end of an era.

Love those chilly fall days when the temps get to freezing, clear skies and no wind. Ice is probable 2 feet thick here now. It can get up to 4 feet thick but we've only had a couple days of -30F this winter. Temps mostly hanging around 0F. Thanks for taking us along.
Hello, I absolutely love your channel. I think you are a very lovely couple, and of course Alan. This is one of the very best channels on you tube. Your videos are first rate. Excellent cinematography and editing. Thank you so much fir sharing your life and adventures, I also enjoy the bits of history that you add into the content. I have watched all of your vlogs and during the Cristmas holidays I binged watched them again. It is fun to see how much you and your channel have grown since episode one. I would like to say in episode 59 when you left Leicester and jammed your propeller with the playstation dressing gown, I really liked Benny's idea of keeping the dressing gown and using it as sort of a victory shawl. Sounds daft but such little content has made this one of your more professional edits. Really enjoyed it as this to me is what canal boating is about. Restoration etc is one type of CZcams but just watching the world go by as you journey is another. Like the cinema shots of using sharpness and out of focus backgrounds. Looking forward to next weeks journey of Alan 😊
Well done, your proficiency in steering is great. The stew looks like it needs a bit of Bisto lol. You look cold but I guess you can both take a hot bath at the end of the day.

Even though in Alberta we can experience -20 it is a dry -20. For you having the dampness and the -5 plus the breeze as you motor along BRRRR. The secret, if you have not discovered it, is to keep the cabin as dry as possible, wood heat is great for that and change your socks often. Synthetic socks are the worst. Guys buy yourselves a couple of balaclavas and long johns for future journeys.

I had to drive through a flooded road next to the canal in Saxilby in my Nissan Micra. I know how you feel in the boat. The only thing missing was my cat Shelli.
