Very nice video. You made a great decision. I've been to Thailand many times on both business and vacation and appreciate the exotic nature that permeates all aspects of life there. I'm happily married with a child and recently moved to Florida from NYC for quality of life reasons. If I were single, I would probably move to Thailand. In the end, quality of life is paramount but most people just follow their stressful lives without thinking or realizing that there are alternatives. I commend you for taking the leap.

9k baht is roughly just under 300 USD a month.
I live in Rayong Province, Thailand on the beach $200 USD + $110 A/C because now its hot 90deg and run it 24/7..I have $1,100 come in every month and put $200 in savings after expenses. Its Land of Smiles..I'm from Hawaii so I know beauty..aloha.

And there are like a houndred listings...) The mentionned link lists more than 500 houses for less than 12k Baht per month all around Thailand. So I'd claim you'll find a nice rental house at almost any place there. And the best offers you even don't find online but directly there at the place, usually.

David Norton i think money is the key. Not much though especially in beautiful and inexpensive places like Thailand. Perfect to reinvent oneself.

It takes money and a plan. Thailand is wonderful if you have money it is a nightmare when you are low on money. BTW, Isn't that true for every country!? Things that are difficult in Thailand.... work. And work translates to money. Oh yeah, the visa situation. If you are younger then 50 and are not married with a Thai then that becomes a challenge too. Quick 'border runs' are now actively checked and no more then two over land crosses are allowed. You still can go by plane but that is another cost. Depending on your visa you have to do that every two weeks up to every three months. Part of the plan for staying longer is to be able to apply for a 1 year extension of stay. Money in the bank (400.000 - 800.000 Baht) is the easiest, otherwise again you need a job with sufficient salary. And oh yeah..... a workpermit, yet another challenge. As i said, do have a plan!
