SJM has mentioned she got inspiration from Nalini Singh’s books and Ali Hazelwood’s Bride is inspired by Nalini Singh’s as well!
Kate Daniel’s series is top tier ❤
Burn for me is so good too!!! I just love all Ilona Andrews books
I’m currently reading the Guild Hunter series and there are SOO many parallels between Nalini Singh’s books and SJM’s. I’m currently on book 3 and having a good time with it. Definitely recommend it
The Kate Daniels series is my favorite series of all time. It’s not nearly hyped enough! I’m so glad you recommended it. I think I need to reread Nalini Singh’s books as an adult. Last I read it it was meh, but I keep seeing it on lists so maybe I was too young or not into fantasy enough when I last read it
I read Angel's blood as soon as I saw your review of CC on Goodreads where you said that it is so much better. And I have to agree. Now I'm on the 3rd book. Thank you for the recommendation!
Yes!!! Please do a Fever Series re-read. It’s been ages since I’ve read them, but I loved them as well.
I am currently reading the Cresent city series but I did read Burn for me and i have to say I do love that one more
Crazy that I've read everything from this video EXCEPT crescent city... guess I'm a well seasoned fantasy romance veteran haha. Great reccs, you never miss!
I reread Kate Daniels and Nevada/Catalina series last year and i fell in love with then even more
Last month I reread the whole guild hunter series (i can't wait for the next book coming soon).
Last month I also reread Innkeeper chronicles by Ilona Andrews.. oh and On The Edge series! Which I really recomend! When it comes to the worldbuilding it is a little more complicated than the other two series, but we do get ACTUAL ALIENS! Plus there is series crossovers (read On The Edge books first) that is really fun!
Love the Innkeeper Chronicles SO MUCH! The Graphic Audio adaptations are great too 🥰✨
Loved this! I've never heard about the books mentioned in the first half of the video. Would love to see more quality romantasy recs. 🖤
I haven’t read crescent city but I love nalini singh as an author and the guild hunters series was the first “adult” book series I ever read over 10 years ago, so hearing you talk about it makes me really happy and nostalgic!
I am SAT!! I tried so hard to get into Crescent City, and just couldn’t!!
This is very refreshing. Thank you!
Kate Daniels is one of my top favorite series. I would say for anyone picking it up to stick with it even if it's a little confusing at first. The first book kind of throws you in the deep end with the magic system and world-building, but it becomes clear and it's so worth continuing.
The only author in this group I haven't read would be Carissa Broadbent. All the others I love. I didn't understand the insinuation that somehow Nalini Singh's series took ideas from SJM. Singh's early books in the Guild Hunter series predate Crescent City. I think Singh was on book 5 when SJM published her first book. SJM feels very YA to me, despite the sex scenes, just because of the style of her characters' interactions. All the other authors are definitely writing for adults. Out of that group, Ilona Andrews (a husband wife duo) is my favorite. If you want to try something really unique, read/listen to their Innkeeper Chronicles. Its a great combo of Urban Fantasy and Sci Fi. The main character runs an Inn in Texas that is a place for aliens to stay when they come to Earth. Some of those aliens are Vampires or Werewolves, and some are even more alien than that. They're fun. The Inn is sentient and can change at the Innkeeper's wishes to accommodate the different species who visit.
UGH I've loved the guild hunter series for years. I binged them in 2018 and have read the new ones as they come out even though #15 wasn't the best. But there are male hunters as well as one of Elena's friends and sometimes partner was/is a male and the Dad drama with the sibling things..... but this I still have a love for Nalini Singh's series they're all pretty good and enjoyable and Sarah J Mass also loves Singhbooks and they did a release/ online book interview together! :) Along with this series Suzanne Wright's the Dark In You series was also amazing reads. A little More adult and more diverse with its creatures but so freaking good !!! One of my favourites. And Lastly the Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs is a good Shifter series that Is still not over but its deals with a lot of taboo topics and is handles so freaking well. and will always have a place in my heart I used to re-read it every year :) its also one of the OG shifter/romance series.
OMG two of my fav authors in one video? Yes!!!
I have the first book of both the guild hunter and psy-changeling series on my kindle and I can’t wait to start them! Since getting back into reading as an adult a few years ago I haven’t been a huge series person, I like the one and done, even though the books I love and defined me as a child/teen were all series. I can see myself slowing making my way through both her series, just picking up a book when I feel kinda going back and forth between them.
I love the Guild Hunter series and have reread it multiple times 😍
Nalini Singh's Psy-changeling series is also top tier!
Nalini Singh’s archangel series is one of my favorites!
Ilona Andrews is great also.
Love this whole list, thank you.
Here for the Ilona Andrews love!
I totally agree with your thoughts on The Fever Series. I found Mac pretty irritating in the first book, but the world kept me reading. I do remember Mac grew on me.
I've read the first three Kate Daniels books. I still need to read the rest of the series and the authors other books.
Heck yes. Ilona Andrews write fan-freaking-tastic series!! Great video
I did enjoy Crescent City but there are definitely points about it I’m not happy about it. Especially the last one. So I’m here for this!
Same ....just finished book two and yeah there are parts that just make me go "wow"
I'm here for Kate Daniels love
Omg fever series is gold! I keep telling myself I am going to continue the series.
Also audio book for the first 3 books. The narrators accent is so bad. But I think the narrator changes.
WHAT IS THIS NEW BURN FOR ME COVER?!?!??!?
i used it in the vid! i'm into it
Burn for me sounds really interesting!!!
If they don't say "oh my gods", I'm there.
I’m so torn over crescent city. HOEAB had me on the edge of my seat (even if it wasn’t perfect) and now HOSAB has me impatient for the story to rebuild to where we left off (don’t get me started on rebuilding all that terrible unresolved sxxual tension) and impatient get through days worth of audiobook for the story to unfold. And I’m having flashbacks to my diehard Fanfic reading days in relation of SJM writing style and it’s just rough out here. Sick of Bryce where she had me so excited at HOEAB’s finale and I feel like Hunt isn’t even a real character anymore. Rant over, thnx for the video xoxo
oh my goodness yes!!! I didn't looovvveee Crescent City like everyone else (I gave CC1 2 stars 🙈) I am loving these recs though!! I already have a few in my Amazon wish list hee hee so maybe I'll bump those up.
Same. I dislike CC but I’ve read the first 3 recs and love love them aka have reread them multiple times
As I was forcing myself through CC3 I was 100% thinking everyone should just read Hidden Legacy and Darkfever instead 😅
Nalini Singh's other popular series is just as good as the Guild Hunter one. It's called the Psy-Changeling Series and instead of archangels, angels, vampires and humans, it's the changeling, the psychic, and humans. There's 15 in the original and it has a new spin off called the Psy-Changeling Trinity. I love all her books! So excited to get people to read them ❤
The way you talked about guild hunter/CC is how I feel about the Aurelian Cycle/Fourth Wing 😂 .. legit don’t understand the hype
Ily
❤❤❤
