  • Mark manufactures his own components, which saves quite a lot of cost for a future project. This part is a 1mH Air Cored Inductor - which has very stable characteristics. Can you guess what they are for?

    Have no knowledge about anything Mark does, but I still continue watch his videos.
    Maybe it's his personal charm that attracts me to keep following his channel.

    Nice work Mark, I had to replace the inductor in a Sony CFS-9900 1985 boombox last week. The right channel was very low when recording. Dam inductor on the bias circuit was open.

    Nice work, beautiful winding machine!
    That procedure where you heat the coil seems complicated, it's easier to drip wax from a lit candle (I have done this many times😊).

    Those Peak Atlas component testers are really good! A bit pricey, but come with a great user manual, and generally well-thought out. I recently got the DCA75 for measuring semiconductors and I’ve spent the entire day curve-tracing every transistor I could get. Even found a few Zeners in my bin of diodes. It’s neat

    I've dipped cheap guitar pickups into shellac to pot them. Easier than wax, but if the pickup ever gets damaged, it's hard to remove the shellac to repair it

  • @c4t4l4n4
    @c4t4l4n4 Před rokem +2

  • @ttyR265
    @ttyR265 Před 11 měsíci

    Could have painted on some clear lacquer during the winding process with a small acid brush and really stabilized the windings.

    I feel like one could possibly wind their own flyback transformer. These are becoming more and more unobtainable and are very bespoke for each application… often when the flyback goes it’s the end of the road for the tube. Not that it would be particularly easy as you’d have to know each secondaries polarity and output voltage but maybe..

    • @ernieschatz3783
      @ernieschatz3783 Před 4 měsíci

      'One' could but one must be sure to check for proper flyback with one's tongue.
