    The best heater is the Big Buddy heater. Have run one in living room with 20lb tank for last 10 years. Saves alot on heating oil prices.

    I don't know why but the humming sound of when you turn it on really reminds me of the opening sound of a movie

    The one additional Con to the portable buddy heater is (with mine) is that even in a portable shanty on a windy day, it tends to blow out when on Low setting. So, I have to set it to high - and either overheat, or turn it off periodically. So, that's a hassle.

    I have never once been cold with a sunflower heater they always work. Iv had at least a dozen different problems with multiple buddy heaters. They basically don’t work when it’s below freezing in my experience. 3 of them failed at elk camp last year.

    • @MNMadeAdventures
      @MNMadeAdventures  Před rokem +3

      That’s how I feel also. My buddy heater hasn’t failed yet but it takes more effort to start when it’s cold. The sunflower heater is simple but reliable.

    Came here to see if the hissing was normal. What IS that hissing? I swear the one my friend has doesn’t make that hissing noise.
    Oh, and I haven’t found any thing that can beat a kerosene heater (except one of those torpedo heaters).

    • @MNMadeAdventures
      @MNMadeAdventures  Před 7 měsíci

      I'm not exactly sure what the hissing noise is either, just thought it was part of the deal lol but yeah, those kerosene heaters put out a ton of heat but for me, it's not as convenient to use.

    1:20 -- wind is gonna blow that pilot right off and you're screwed.

    • @MNMadeAdventures
      @MNMadeAdventures  Před 8 měsíci +3

      You’re right but if you’re outside with that much wind, this buddy heater will not do you any good anyway. You should be in some sort of shelter or garage to be out of the wind and maintain the heat.

    Tank top is better

    • @MNMadeAdventures
      @MNMadeAdventures  Před rokem +3

      Tank top is definitely easier to use when it comes to plug and play. Easy to use and puts out heat with little fear of it not starting.

    Buddy heater does not take 20 minutes to heat up in cold, and is safer than the suflower, also the sunflower heating element was twice as powerful as buddy heater , buddy heater is safe indoors just vent it and get carbon monoxide monitor and co2 monitor with alarm , settings are 0-25 safe, above 25 ppm get out and ventilate.

    Are you sure that the red button
    when fully pushed is not an
    igniter? Buy your next sunflower
    heater with an igniter button.

    • @MNMadeAdventures
      @MNMadeAdventures  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, I’ve tried many times to see if it would ignite but it wouldn’t. It just opens up the valve to send propane through. You can hear the propane shoot through once you depress it. It is an old model so yes, the next one I buy will have a built in ignitor.

      It probably only flames up from all the bouncing across the lake ina flipover. Or in the back of the truck and you hit the brakes a touch too hard Just something to watch for. And keep your vents open and door cracked. Brain burners lol

    They recommend you don't use the sunflower heater in your vehicle RV what's the difference they seem to have the same pad same amount of flame

    • @MNMadeAdventures
      @MNMadeAdventures  Před rokem

      Yeah I wouldn’t use the sunflower inside an RV unless it’s an emergency situation and for only a short period of time. Unless you have some windows open for ventilation. Don’t know for sure why but probably the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning.

    You never went over burn time for both units on a 20lbs bottle. How many hours of heat will you get with each unit on a 20lbs bottle.

    • @MNMadeAdventures
      @MNMadeAdventures  Před rokem +2

      I haven’t tested the run time on a full 20lbs tank to empty but I’m going to guess that with both units on high, the sunflower heater might use up propane faster because it puts out more heat. I used the heaters about a half dozen times last season between 4-5 hrs each outing and I still have about half of the tank left.

    • @johnmeth1
      @johnmeth1 Před 9 měsíci

      Average 20lb tank contains 430,000 BTU. Find the BTU’s on your heater and divide. That’ll give an estimate on any heater you’re looking at.

    The mr heater heaters really piss me off. I have 3 or 4 and can't use any of them because the control nob is broke. Cheap plastic crap and also at some point in the past they changed to different threads in the control unit and no information on which heater you have or when it was made. I have a triple, a double and 2 single units and can't use a damn one of them.
