Shocking Double Digit Bass While Frog Fishing

- This fishing trip we thought was going to be just small bass, but it turned into a shocking surprise of topwater amazment. Rob from Lunkers TV and I met up to go fall bass fishing at a random lake inbetween where we both live in Texas. We got there early in the morning to see if a topwater bite might be on. I had been to the lake one time before and knew there were a lot of small largemouth bass living in the lake. We started off the day by throwing hollow body frogs and topwater buzz frogs and starting getting bites right away! After hooking into a few small fish, I had a nice five to six pound largemouth crush my frog and break my line. My fishing rod and line I was using at the time was set up for 2-3 lbers, not giants. After discovering there were big bass in the shallow grass patches, we beefed up our rods and fishing line and stuck with fast moving topwater buzz frogs on top of the grass. Rob had a giant explode on his frog and miss it but stopping it for just a second, the bass came back and smashed that frog so hard that we were both screaming like we just saw jason on halloween. We landed the fish and went into town to get a scale so Rob could find out if that was his pb bass record. It turns out it was a 10 pound even double digit bass that we both will never forget after hitting that frog.

You need an extra long bass boat with a "Rob Zone". That is a 10 foot section where Rob casts and sets his hook in! 😃 That way....nobody gets hurt during the making of these videos! Awesome video!!

I've only caught one Bass in my life. So of course that makes it my personal best. 4 lbs on a pumpkin colored chatterbait with a pumpkin colored trailer. And I had the trailer hook attached. He was hooked on the trailer hook. Rancho Seco NorCal!

My PB came on a 6in tequila sunrise worm with a red tail. The fish was 9.73 lbs and it came off of Caddo Lake. In fact, you did a video from Caddo Lake titled something like “fishing a swamp from my Jon boat”. The area that you finished up in, is where I caught her. I was using a spinning rig with 10lb test lol. If my dad hadn’t have been Jonny on the spot with the trolling motor, I never would have seen her. She had just spawned out, so she was hangry. She smashed it. One of my top 5 memories

LakeForkGuy: I have been fishing for nearly 60 years in Ontario, Canada. Only do night fishing ~ dusk until 1-2am. Only use one lure ~ a large all black hula popper. Fish alone in a blow up float boat with an electric motor. PB ~ largemouth: 7lb. 11oz, smallmouth ~ 6lb. 7oz. Fish in all kinds of structure, usually 20-30 offshore. Blowups like you could not imagine. Pitch black, slightly overcast, deep calm: pop, pop, pop ~ then all HELL breaks lose.
My personal best largemouth is 6.8 on a chatter bait, and my personal best smallmouth is 5 on the dot on a striking 1.5! Love the videos man keep it up!
I can't believe I've had that over Lunkers for so long. You guys fish all the best lakes a.d Florida Strain too. I cought mine in Northern CA on a Nightcrawler of all things. Second was on a frog and third was on a 7" Lizard.

sorry for the late comment, but first of all nice 10 lber rob!
I caught my PB on a Strike King Rage Bug (Blue craw color) it weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces out of Jordan Lake in Seaforth, North Carolina. It was early spring the water temp. just warming up to the high 50's. All of the smaller bass were moving up to the shallow flats feeding on shad, but the big girls were deep into the bushes right where the shallow water first dropped off a foot or two deeper. I had to work for her though. I would see the bass break right in the middle of the same bush every few minutes. (i'm not sure what type of bush or plant). assuming that it was eating shad as they swam by i first tried to imitate using a jerk bait and then a spinner bait but I couldn't seem to get her to come out after those. At that moment I went to my go to flipping bait which is the Rage Bug. I made probably 5 casts until I finally got the bait to fall down right in the middle of the cover. I let it sit for a few seconds and she picked it up and dropped it. Then I gave it a slight drag and it was just enough to entice the bass to hit my Rage Bug again. This time she took off with it and I set the hook hard and pulled her right out of there.

My PB was just last week in a farm pond. 10lbs and caught her on a Zoom Brush Hog. Before that it was a 6.6lbs on a jig with a chunk trailer. Get video as I always have trouble hooking up on the frogs. Good to see you stick with it!

I'm from Wisconsin and my PB was caught last September on a texas rigged black/blue flake Havoc Juice Worm. She weighed 6lb 6oz and I was lucky enough to have the GoPro running when I caught her.

My biggest bass was a 7.02 and I caught it on a white and red rattle trap I mounted the bait with a replica of the bass on my wall 🎣. I'm praying for u man get better soon! We love you!!!!

I don't bass fish much but I have been a lot lately and caught my PB of 3.2lbs the other day on a square bill crank bait. Though I am mostly in love with saltwater fishing I have enjoyed these bass fishing trips lately. Great video and wow that would be awesome to pull in a TANK like that one.
I've only caught one over 10 (10.11) and that was on a 6in swimbait. I have a lot of 6/7lb fish mostly on top water, a rat l trap, or burner worm. Congrats Rob and your personal best.

this is why a 2nd mounted camera at the opposite side of the boat is needed . When me snd my old partner were filming we hsd uo to 5 cameras going. front mount, rear mount , rod mounts, a camera that could be turned on a swivel specificly to look at where we were carting too, and the camera angles we were the first to use the net cam.

4.46 on a zoom baby bass, bank fishing in a pond. Bass came in quick, stopped, I was reeling it like a jerk bait, so I stopped. One little twitch and it just smashed it. Love the zoom baby bass.
My PB largemouth came on a 1/2 oz. black and blue jig, May of this year.
My PB smallmouth came on a green pumpkin tube bait, 2 weeks ago.
Both of these are featured on my channel!
my pb was caught on a small grub fishing for crappie and blue gill. was bouncing it along a bulkhead from shore. was 8lb. My dad got it in the net but the net broke off so he jumped in after it and got it!. I will never forget that day.

My PB from May was a 11.2lbs hybrid bass on a white rooster tail. That is what spured me into going all fishing freak and since diving fresh into the community this spring my best largie is probably a 4lber on a candy grass biospawn stick bait (no scale)

The biggest bass I have caught on a drop shot was a10.07 pound bass . I am a big fan of you lunker tv.
I've caught three 10lb bass in Florida. One on a baby bass Rat-l Trap in July (small pond), one on a Zoom trick worm in watermelon red in Shoesole Lake, and one on a Zoom Horny Toad while wading chest deep in Mill Dam lake off of Hwy 40.

I caught my new PB less than a week ago... 8.5lbs on a Live Target Frog. Caught a 5.10 later that same day. That has been my best day ever so far on the water.

my pb is 10lb 12oz bass on a 1/2 Oz rattle trap on Christmas day
12.3 lbs. on a buzz bait right at dusk. Went back the next day and caught a 11.3 lbs. bass at about an hour before dusk. Both was from fishing from the bank in a very large pond with creek access. Still my best so far.

Here in WV a 5 pounder is a big fish. 6 lb spotted bass on a dirty jigs compact pitching jig with a cabin Creek lures Jr express craw. 5 lb small mouth on a war eagle finesse spinner bait. 5.5 lb largemouth on a strike king 1.5 square bill in green gizzard shad.
LFG.....Best was years ago at Echo Lake near Brownsboro, Tx......10.4 lbs. on a 7 inch grape Gator Tail. Back then, the state record had been taken out of Echo Lake around 15 lbs.

My PB is an 8.39 lb Northern Strain bass in Washington that I caught on a Spro King Daddy! But most of my big fish came on big bulky jigs! I have had some close encounters throwing 8 - 10" swimbaits here though where they just rolled on it and then darted back down into deeper water.

8.6 on a texas rig on a Berkley pit boss, big texan color and at a lake in Texas LBJ on a Texas flats boat that every body looks at thinking I am nuts fishing in bass tournaments. I am mostly a salty dog but bass fishing is new to me.
5.9PB on Fork (fishing there since Feb 16) was on the Berkley version of the Zara Spook just a couple weeks ago during the Berkley Tournament

KICK ASS DUDE !!!! Congrats !!! I am used to catching 3-5 lbs. here in Mn. But my first ever and PB bass was in Florida , it was 11.4lbs and I nearly shit my pants and was shaking after I caught it so I know how he felt lol
Oh I almost forgot to tell you how I caught it ... I was using everything I had and nothing was working so the guys at the lake told me to fish in the pond next to the lake , they said when ever they catch a big one they throw them in this pond so they said no problem so I tried in there with everything I had and still nothing ... They said they feed them with the dead shiners people bring back so I thought to myself ( I will use a hook and the dead shiner and a big hook ) nothing else , well THAT WORKED !! It dropped in the water , sank about 2 feet and BOOM !!

Don't really know my PB, did not have a scale when l was catching a few nice size LMB. So l bought a scale, fish grippers, and a bump board. Haven't caught a fish worth measuring or weighing since. Such is the story of my life.
caught my biggest fish, 8lb, on a junebug wacky rigged sinko in two foot of water on your own Lake Fork. it made that ride down from Tennessee worth it, had one bigger than that break me off the first day we was down tho.

5lb large mouth with a frog popper on a fly rod! That fish came out of the water like JAWS!!!
this years best was plus 6 on a crappie jig working standing timber for crappie. pb is 9 lb on a pitt boss. couple 7 lbers on fly rods and a 5 plus smallie on a fly rod.
My PB is only 5.3 lbs. live in CT, not many big largemouth here. Caught in a pond that's only 250 long and 100 ft wide lol. Caught on a black and blue chatterbait just last week. Water looked like chocolate milk. First cast with the chatterbait and I nailed the fish. Was happy af.
